We loved the location of this Hotel for seeing all the sights. With a Metro station just next store, we were able to get on the train with out even going out side to the HEAT of the summer. We also found that many of the best places to eat were just blocks away. We loved the travel DC channel offered in our room, it gave us some great tips for dinner and when to go to the different museums. Only thing that would have made the trip perfect is a King size bed. My husband and I got stuck with two double beds in our room. But size asside, the bed was very comfortable. The room service was also great.

Stayed here 4 days. The hotel is beautiful, has very comfortable beds, and the room is clean and updated. The double beds are standard beds (not queen size), but the beds, pillows and bedding were extremely comfortable. The gym was great (there is a $10 fee/room/day if you use it, which we found to be a good deal). Pool use is free but the pool is rather small and only 4 feet deep -- which was great for families with small kids, but not really for adults. The metro--which charges approximately $2/trip/person--is right there (runs under the hotel)--VERY convenient, though paying for it can be a bit frustrating. If you arrive at the Ronald Reagan National Airport, you can take it and get off at the Metro Center exit, once out of the train then look for the 11th street exit sign and you will see an entrance into the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Ask the hotel receptionist for a map. The sights are within 5-15 minutes walking distance from the hotel--we spent all of our stay there walking and it was great, although we did take the Metro to go to the mall at Pentagon City (located in Viriginia) and to go to the National Shrine (at Catholic University). Stick to walking during the daytime. The Ford Theater and the American History Museum were closed and the FBI doesn't have tours any more. The breakfast buffet was very good but way too expensive. Be careful of people coming up to you for change--there are some fake bills going around. While we were there the whole downtown Washington DC area went black due to a power shortage--HOWEVER even though the hotel room did not have electricity, the hallways of the hotel had emergency power!

Short stay- 2 nights

The hotel is just beautiful inside. We had an atrium view (not a street view) and it kept the boys (ages 9 and 11) entertained to look at the activity in the lobby. Very well located, a decent walk to a lot of sight seeing. Directly across the street- eat at the Capital Grille for lunch or dinner. Buffet breakfast at hotel is pricey and offered everything but pancakes (which was all the kids wanted to eat.) We found "Mr. Lincoln's Waffle House" down the street (across from Ford's Theatre) on our second morning--- more in line with our needs! We were well received by staff, and felt safe during the day or night. The concierge recommended a limo/driver for our visit to the monuments at night... he was a wonderful guy, and we were pleased with that recommendation. We would definitely stay there again!

We basically wanted a nice place to lay our heads for 2 nights in this location while we explored the city. The Penn Quarter location and the overall feel of this beautiful hotel (upper floor/Atrium-view), matched our purpose and rate paid. The beds were extremely comfortable.
Overall, the service was only OK. If you are looking to be pampered by way of personal attention, don't expect much. Perfect place to stay with friends for a getaway.

We enjoy every moment of our stay at Grand Hyatt. For the special price I book through the travel website($129 per night including two adult breakfast buffett each day), we enjoy our best hotel experience ever. Every staff we encountered were very very friendly and helpful. They would take extra effort to satisfy your need. The best staff I ever met (from maintance staff to the manager). My two double beds room is roomy, beautiful and very clean. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. My kids also enjoyed the indoor swiming pool very much. Although it's small and tends to be crowdy at night (like the other review said), it's perfect for my two kids who are not very good at swimmimg yet but love to play in the water. We also went in the morning to avoid the crowd. We left our car at the garage (parking is extra) and took advantage of Metro sysem below the hotel. Although many attractions is within walking distance, we still use the Metro to save our energy in the museum. The hotel also provide good information for tourists.
