A BIT OF PARADISE

Hotel is definitely upscale as far as buildings, landscaping, service, and panoramic views. Hotel staff was very professional and eager to help customers. Although our room was not quite ready when we arrived, the hotel clerk compensated with complimenary drinks and breakfast. The hotel has plenty of activities to offer either at the resort or on palamino island. The quick trips between the hotel and palamino are quite enjoyable. Visitors should have their own rental car(definitely with a nav system) to explore other points of interest.

Upon arrival we were told that they did not have anymore double beds. We were traveling with our 12yr old son and did not want him sleeping on a blow up mattress while on vacation. Plus we did not pay for blowup mattress rates. After over half an hour they found us a double queen. I felt that they did not care. It was in the old smelly hotel. Hallways looked like a motel hallway. I was embarrassed! Mildew in showers. Linens old. Could not regulate temp in room. Was always too cold. Pool area needs maintenace. Staff not very attentive in resteraunts. One omlet guy with 10+ people on line! Whatelse can I say! Would not come back. Dining - Bring lots of money. Breakfast & Lunch for 3 was always $*+. Dinner entress are $25+ Best part of resort was the little island. You would think they would have someone take drink orders. Hey how about some music. No entertainment at night.......

Incredible and absolutely beautiful!

My wife and I loved the views and we didn't have a "cliff" view. From our room, we were overlooking the bay with the lighthouse. There was great shopping on site, with a variety of restaurants. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The casino was fun for all, even with the penny slots. The island beach was great, and we liked taking the boat over, which only took 8 minutes. I'm going to try and make it back again. Great place for our Anniversary.

Go somewhere else.

You get "nickeled and dimed" to death everywhere in the resort. Rooms adequate. Food mediocre and overpriced ($9 for a hot dog, $40 for a pasta dish). Service is poor, and sparsely available (after 2 hours at the pool, we were offered service). The waterpark consists of 3 slides, and costs $80 per family to get in. It should be free. The beach is a boatride away. While the place is scenic in its location overlooking the Caribbean, and with lovely landscaping, it is not worth the price or the effort of getting there. It is over an hour from San Juan if there's no traffic. Go somewhere else and not feel ripped off.

Great Experience, good price, Expensive food, RENT A CAR

My wife and I spent more than 4 days there in August 2008. It was a wonderful experience. The Staff was always ready to help and very nice. No problems with the language. I have to agree that the food is overpriced and we didn't find just the right restaurant to eat well. POSITIVE POINTS... The hotel has its own island (PALOMINO) and will take you there in one of their two high speed Catamarans, in 7 minutes you arrive to the island, where You'll find many activities, such us jet ski, bananas, horse riding, etc. or you can spend a nice morning drinking pina colada. They also have some good food over there. The island is open till late afternoon, you will enjoy it... EL YUNQUE You can visit EL YUNQUE NATIONAL FOREST while being at EL CONQUISTADOR.. it is not far away from the hotel. IF YOU RENTED A CAR.. DRIVE,, is very easy to get there and fun to drive. MY ADVISE. Don't take the hotel Buss from the SAN JUAN AIRPORT. It is just ridiculously expensive. RENT A CAR... BUT MAKE YOUR RESERVATION withing days prior your arrival. Most of the RENTAL services are book for two weeks a head. RENT A CAR, and believe it or not, you will save money. IF YOU HAVE A GPS,, bring it along with You, IT WILL work in Puerto Rico. IF YOU Go,, feel free to talk to the staff, they are very nice and willing to help in things that are not even part of their JOB... One guy there, help me to book my hotel (for free) in other island (Culebra) that I wanted to visit. He got me a price that I couldn't have gotten on my own.!
