New Carpet

  • October 3, 2008

We stayed in ski resort in October! They were replacing the carpet throughout, for the upcoming season. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was like a ghosttown. Parking lot is dirt, surprising since everything around is paved. beds were ok, squeaky and not "plush" but it was ok, the pillows are all feather pillows.

Better for Winter but great deal for Summer

I stayed in July of 08 and the hotel was better than expected. The only problem I had was the long winding drive through the mountains to get there but thats part of the scenery that you go there for anyway but I was on business so I could have done without the drive. Restaurant was closed for the summer but there were many other places to eat just around the corner and a few miles away. Front desk lady was real nice and friendly. I am not a skier but this place looks like it would be perfect in ski season because you are right at the base of the mountain ski area.

Good hotel, nice rooms, no immediate dining

We had two adjoining rooms. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean. The larger room had a fireplace and a small, furnished kitchen; the other room did not. The microwave oven is placed six feet above the floor, so only tall people could reach it. Since we only stayed for one night we did not have a chance to explore the immediate surroundings, but we ski at Winter Park all the time and are familiar with the area anyway. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The parking lot is dirt, so if it's raining it will be a muddy trudge to the lobby with your luggage. There is no air conditioning and our room got a little too warm. If you open the window/sliding door it will help, but HWY 40 is just a stone's throw away and the traffic noise will be disruptive. This hotel is about 2 miles away from the town of Winter Park, so you'll have to drive to Winter Park if you want to visit stores or restaurants. Overall, we enjoyed the hotel and the price was right. Our other option was sleeping in a tent, so this was much, much better. We would stay at this hotel again.

Good price in summer, but...

I read the review and saw the photos and thought this would be an excellent to stay. However, it is a bit out of the way from downtown Winter Park. There is no on-site restaurant in the summer. No AC (but has heater) as well. Rooms are dusted and dated too. For lack of choice, this maybe an okay place. But given that there are several other choices in town, I don't think this will be my top choice the next time I am in the area.

Great Value

My family loved the location. Our room had a full kitchen and fireplace. The housekeeping was excellant, with the dishwasher ran and emptied every day while we were skiing. The shuttle was very conveniently located right outside the door of the hotel. My younger kids were very excited to be able to swim in the middle of a snowfall....the pool temperature was just right.
