Great Hotel for Tweens

This hotel is one mile outside the entrance to the Grand Canyon and is a good family hotel for the money. That being said, it is more of a dorm in its atmosphere than a lodge hotel on the rim inside the park, with hallways branching off at 5 different points from the main lobby . Since we hadn't reserved a year ahead of time, we chose this hotel for its nighttime activities. The family bowling center and arcade is open from 5 - 10 pm (although a Monday night league took up most of the lanes from 6 to 9). There is also a sports bar which serves pizza and "bar food". The coffee shop is only open for breakfast and lunch so the more elegant and pricey (entrees >$20) steakhouse restaurant is your only other option for dinner at the hotel. We opted for the complimentary continental breakfast which, again, felt like a dining commons at college. The food was ok - lots of fresh fruit, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, biscuit & sausage gravy, french toast, pastries and cold cereal but they had a hard time keeping it warm and keeping it "stocked".
The "extended" room itself was just ok. The towels were worn and the two pillows per bed seemed undersized. The bathroom itself was clean but had a huge elevated tub/shower combination that was tricky to get in and out of. It has a nice vanity and sink outside the bathroom.
Overall, this hotel fit the bill for what we needed- kids activities, a place to sleep and an easy breakfast.

This hotel had a nice restaurant and it does have things for kids to do. However, the hotel's rooms haven't been updated since the 80's and the carpets in the rooms were filthy. I didn't think I would care, but it skeeved me & my husband. There was no balcony so we couldn't even sit outside at night. We stayed at other lower-priced chains around AZ on our trip that were much nicer & cleaner.
Great hotel, poor service from some staff

Lovely hotel in great location near the National Geographic Visitor Centre and Imax theatre, and just a short drive to the Grand Canyon entrance. Very nice room and comfy bed. Good continental breakfast. Most of the staff were great, but some were not helpful or friendly (they may have had limited English but they also seemed disinterested). Washing machines in guest laundry were not well maintained. We ate at the nearby Spaghetti Western ? food was average and the service was very poor. Suggest choose somewhere else to eat.
