I prefer a Residence Inn or Springhill Suites

I redeemed Marriott Rewards points to stay here for two nights with my family. Although the hotel was very nicely decorated, clean, and very friendly attentive staff... I probably won't stay here again. The view was great and being within walking distance to the river walk and downtown Savannah are the best features of this hotel. Internet access cost extra in the room (we had to carry our laptop to the business center to get free wire-less internet access) and breakfast is not included and quite pricey at the Blue restaurant.
There are better rooms for less money

My wife and I go to Savannah every year for a long weekend. This year was last minute planned and our normal hotel was all booked up. I managed to get us a night at the Marriott Riverfront thinking that the room would be similar to what we normally get at our normal hotel. Wrong. We usually get a suite at a different hotel on Bay St, that is equipped with a separete sitting room, a nice bathroom, and then the bedroom. Also it has a fridge, wet bar, and micro wave. Is that too much to ask? The Marriott room had no fridge, no microwave, just walk in and there is the bed and tv, and a desk. Al teast the bathroom was spacious. All of this for $70 more a night than we usually pay for a suite up the street. We were both quite disappointed with what we got for what we paid. The room had a beautiful view of the roof on the section next to ours. Also, if you want breakfast, be prepared to pay extra for that too. All in all, we decided that this hotel wont be on our list of must visit places. Half the room for a lot more money, no thanks.
