Great place to stay

We stayed for six day while visiting family. We had a one bedroom suite and it was quite spacious for two adults and one cat. The amenities were fine and the kitchen was well stocked with pans etc if we would have wanted to cook. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom linens nice. It was a very quite location although it is also very close to many shopping and eating options. The staff we dealt with were very nice. We really appreciated the pet friendly nature of the lodgings including the magnet you could put on the outside of your door to let others know you had a per in the room. We will definitely stay again

Not the Pits in Pittsburgh

Candlewood Suites is a little difficult to find, which may help to explain their surprisingly low rates. The hotel is tucked away in the middle of a vast commercial district off Route 60 and is almost invisible from the road. After passing Best Buy, Starbucks, Target, Circuit City and dozens of other stores, you almost despair of finding the place and become convinced you're in the wrong neighborhood. But once you get there, the hotel is just fine. The rooms are fairly plush and comfortable -- geared toward business travelers, the hotel features rooms that are like small apartments, with refrigerator/freezers, microwave ovens, kitchen sinks and, best of all, armchairs. The bed we slept in was very comfortable, and the bathroom was more than adequate. Rooms have CD/DVD players to supplement the rather limited selection of TV channels. The CD/DVD library doesn't offer very much, so bring your own favorite music and movies. It's a fairly short drive to downtown Pittsburgh and PNC Park or Heinz Field, if you're in town to see the Pirates or Steelers. There's no restaurant on site, but plenty of places to eat nearby.

You'll be Smoking.

Room was spacious and relatively clean. Reserved a Non-Smoking room. Desk clerk says company policy for internet reservations is "you get what we got". Since it was late at night and no other motels were available, we settled for a Smoking Suite. And it was truly a Smoking Room. Stank to high heaven; even allegedly fresh towels reeked of smoke. We kept all of our clothes in our travel bags. Unfortunately, the smoke smell came through. We stunk of cigarette fumes the whole day. Bed was comfortable. Small TV worked fine in bedroom. Larger TV in sitting room was very fuzzy. Bathroom was clean, except for smoky towels. It was a shame. Motel is relatively new and upkeep seems fine. But, unless you are a smoker, be prepared to smell like one.

We truly enjoyed ourselves for our first stay in the city and our first stay in the hotel. Beds were very comfortable and rooms very homely. Excellent stay!

I didn't know what to expect from Candlewood, but I was pleasantly suprised. It wasn't overdone, but had everything you could need.
