My wife and I stayed at the Courtyard over Memorial Day weekend and were impressed by the hotel in every way.
The hotel is set right on Carolina Beach, dead-set in the middle of everything this town has to offer. We never moved the car all weekend. There are numerous resturants, bars, shops and even a grocery store all within a few surrounding blocks.
All rooms are oceanfront with unobstructed views. We stayed in a king room that was vacationer-friendly. The bed actually faced the ocean, so that was a nice bonus. The room came equiped with medium fridge which was unexpected. The room also had a sofa bed which was near the sliding glass door. Even with the king bed and sofa, the room was not cramped in any way. The sliding glass door leads to the private deck that has two chairs and table for relaxing.
The place is new so everything in the hotel was in great shape. The ice makers never ran out, sodas reasonably priced ($1.25 for a 16-oz. or 20-oz.), and the elevators quick. There is a very nice oceanfront pool, a smaller indoor pool, and a fitness facility all overlooking the beach. There are hotel guest-only bathrooms on the ground floor that are very convenient from the beach.
The staff was very friendly (we even got to check in at 11am the day we arrived, even though we had not previously asked for an early check-in). We didn't try the hotel breakfast ($9.99), so I can't comment on that (there is a wonderful local Pancake House directly in front of the hotel).
The beach itself is about 100 feet from the lobby and was not all crowded (by holiday standards). If you are looking to stay at Carolina Beach and not have to worry about the no-name hotels, look no further. I absolutely would stay here again.
