Great Hotel.

Had a well appointed double queen room on the 21st floor. The room had a refrigerator and a microwave, along with internet connection and luxury bedding. The bed is a pillow-topper and was shear heaven. The other reviewers are correct that the elevators were small and slow, but that is a very minor issue unless you are there with a convention in town. The staff was friendly and accommodating, offering help about how to get arounnd Chicago even before being asked. The maps and tourist information supplied was very useful. The hotel is located near really great shopping and dining opportunites - nordstrom's is literally across the street.

Great location for all the sights we wanted to see. Public transportation located right at the hotel entrance. Rooms were clean and beds extremely comfortable. Decor was new and pleasant. No problems with noise. Free computer room access was handy. Best of all, the front desk staff was always very helpful and knowledgeable helping us get to the places we wanted to go, or giving us recommendations when we weren't sure. Look forward to staying there again.

We Loved our Hotel!

My business partner and I were traveling to Chicago and were recommended to stay at the Hotels sponsored by the Merchandise Mart. Those hotels were overpriced and we heard they were tiny! The Hilton Garden Inn was in a perfect location, couldn't have been closer to public transportation, had a pool and the room was a very generous size for two women. I can't wait to go back with my family - I will definitely be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn again!

Birthday trip to Chicago

Made a two night trip to Chicago to celebrate a birthday. The hotel was more than adequate. Easy check-in (unlike some Chicago Hotels, they had a turn-off to get you off the road to unload). The parking garage wasn't cheap, but conveniently located above the hotel. We went to the local Starbucks in the mornings, but the hotel serves Starbucks in the lobby, if coffee is all you want. Good location, we could walk to anywhere in downtown, especially Michigan Avenue. Only negative the whole trip was the housekeeping trying to come in the room at 8:20 in the morning! Make sure to latch the door!! All-in-all a positive experience. Nice restaurant located on site (Weber Grill), but we didn't get a chance to eat there.

Utterly terrible front desk service

Typical Hilton, decent room, good location. However, I had a loud (very loud) radio blasting from the room next to mine. I pounded on the door and wall to no avail. I then called down to the front desk to get them to take care of it. 30 minutes later, nothing had been done (it was about 10:30 PM). I called again and someone else answered who had no idea I had called before. I again asked that something be done and went out to the hall to wait. 20 minutes later the guy staying in the room got off the elevator and I let loose on him. He went into his room and turned off the radio. I called the front desk again to tell them "thanks but no thanks" at which time she told me she had sent hotel security to the room. No, she had not, as I had been waiting in the hallway the entire time! I complained to the manager and asked to check out a day early to get out of town and away from the hotel. I was charged for the night I was not going to stay at the hotel, even though I had given more than 24 hours notice, and in spite of the complaints I had lodged. This hotel really needs to think about how they resolve problems. I'm even a silver (and previously gold and diamond) member of the frequent stay program with Hilton. Perhaps I need to start looking at other options.
