Good... for the price

I had 2 rooms for a 3 night stay. It's about a mile off the north end of the strip and not an easy walk (you need to cross a superhighway entrance to walk it); so if you really want to be in the middle of the action stay on the strip. I stayed in the courtyard rooms, which can be a fair walk from the front section of the hotel, depending on your location. The room was dirt cheap, plus 10 bucks a day resort fee (still cheap). The rooms are not bad; though they show signs of aging, including very old windows and cheap motel blankets. Everything else worked fine. Shower was nice and cleaning service was pretty good. My room had an awful smell (like a strong smoker had been there even though it was a non-smoking room); but once you were in the room for a few minutes, you got used to it. I complained and they offered to switch me to a different room, but I didn't want to move all my stuff, so I just lived with the smell. I don't gamble much, so I don't care about the casino; but it seemed like it had a zillion slot machines and like 8 tables; not too impressive. The concierge was very nice and he booked a grand canyon tour and a show for us. They have a Starbucks and a couple of other food places in the lobby and a gift shop with reasonable prices (!). Over-all, it's a bit run down and can't compete with the real hotels on the strip; but it was so cheap that for me, at least, it's worth staying here. After all, the only thing I want from my hotel is a place to sleep.

not quite what I thought

The hotel room was nice it was larger then a tipical room that I have stayed in before there was actually room to walk around and with three adults was nice. I did ask for a non smoking room and even tho the whole floor was non smoking the halls smelled like the casino full of cigarett smoke. We also had payed for a room with the fremont view and got a room with a pool view and maybe if we really looked hard off to the side we could get a view of freemont street. The breakfast buffet was great and we ate there every morning. all the employees were nice and friendly. We will be back and next time we will speek up about the room. If you want a view of freamont ask for the north tower.

would not recommend

we stayed for the first time at the plaza last year. got a room that i was afraid to walk barefooted on the carpet. classic 1970 decor, we were on the back and there was a train track which was busy all night. if i stayed there again, which is doubtful, i would insist on a front room and a little more newer room. everything else was just ok. was real cheap though.

would stay again

We stayed at this hotel again after not being there for 12 years. Amazingly enough the hotel is as good and in some cases much better than when we stayed there before. The staff is friendly and the casino is comfortable. The game people are nice and seemed like the game(s) were kinda loose during the week. Weekend was a different story. We will stay here again and are we are always recommending this property to our friends.

We were very disappointed in the hotel room...the carpet was dirty...the bathroom (tub and commode) were in very tiny compared to the room size...barely room to close the door in the bathroom area. A small vanity in the dressing room was adequate. The restaurant (777) always put on a nice buffet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. I would not recommended to anyone to stay there because the rooms and casino were unclean. My suggestion to the hotel would be to close down one floor a week and do heavy cleaning including cleaning the carpets, mirrors and windows...it gave me a very uneasy to walk into the room after the maid service was there and sun shinnying into the room through dirty windows. We had a non smoking room and the furniture and carpet had burn holes on them. We requested a non-smoking room with a balcony and I was informed that only smoking rooms had balconies. WHY!
