This hotel was booked by the conference. I was a little apprehensive about it having had dodgy conference accommodation in the past but I was really pleasantly surprised. Although I had requested a single room, I was placed in a twin – luck on my part, I think. I had plenty of space (more than my room at home!) and all the mod cons. The mini bar was well stocked, but also had plenty of space for other things that I purchased from the local supermarket (so cheap!). There were 50+ TV channels, although only 4 or 5 were in English (the usual suspects: CNN, BBC World, CNBC, a couple of MTV channels and BBC Prime). The bathroom was pristine and the shower hot; there seemed to be a whole army of cleaning staff devoted just to my floor. The breakfast (included in the rate) was fabulous, comprising of cereals, fruit, about six different types of fruit juice, tea and coffee, cold meats, cheese, and a few hot items (scrambled eggs and a few types of sausages). Hotel staff were attentive and spoke good English.
The hotel was excellently placed for the conference – about five minutes from the University where it was being held. It’s probably a bit further from the centre of Warsaw compared to other more central hotels, but it was in walking distance to the Central train station (Warszawa Centralna), and a tram line ran right outside the door, which meant that all of the main attractions were only a few stops away if we’d had too much walking.
Overall, an excellently priced hotel. The only marring aspect was a rumor passing round the conference that the normal rate was lower than the rate charged by the conference organisers (60 euro). However, if true then y’all should be able to get the MDM even cheaper!
