The Best in Town...

I am a former Portsmouth resident and have stayed many, many times in the area returning to visit;I have tried almost all the hotels in the area and this hotel is the only one we have stayed at repeatedly due to its exceptional quality and value. The rooms are always clean, with very fresh bedding etc. The room set up is great, whether traveling alone or with children. The perfect sized kitchenette which is actually stylish (stainless steel appliances!) more like a mini kitchen than a kitchenette-you can buy a few groceries for snacks or eating in (you could stay longterm; many servicemen-this is on a guard base- and families do so sometimes hard to get a res.); the furniture is modern and stylish and comfortable, even the sleeper sofa. The rooms may seem a little small but that's only b/c they're packed with tons of comfortable and useful furnishings. The TVs are great. As a bonus, there's a great pool and hot tub and the best hot breakfast around. And the staff are wonderful, very very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a reliable, clean, comfortable hotel with good food and a relaxing pool area, this is for you! Please be aware this is not located in downtown so you will have to drive to get to Main st. Portsmouth to walk around town but it's only a couple miles-this is on the (former) Pease Air Force Base which allows for plenty of easy free parking, charges and no problems with traffic or noise. We even bring our bikes to ride around because there is a conservation area on site for riding or hiking. It's also really easy to hop on the highway and get to Maine beaches or the outlets in Kittery (about 15 mins).

Hubby & I checked in both our debit cards declined, asked how much they where trying to charge card they said $325. I said there might be a $300 dollar limit, they then tried both cards for one night $175. After still being declined they where rude to us, I asked if they would take check, one woman started to say yes until the other elbowed her and said no, we found out later in our guest book that they do. i was very upset it was snowing very bad out and we had no where to go. luckily we Managed to get money from atm paid for that night. Next day found a bank that did shared branching with our bank and we got cash to pay for that night. Found out monday from my bank that they had tried to charge both our cards 32,500 and both again at 17,500. THEY TRIED TO CHARGE US ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR TWO NIGHTS! I called and told them this, they blew me off and said it couldn't happen because they do it by computer. was then told they would check the computer and talk to the woman who cashed us out. I have sent emails to them and hand written letters, but i have not gotten a response. Our romantic weekend was ruined, it locked down our account we couldn't go out to eat or get gas to get home with. Our bank told us it's considered confirmed fraud. On the smaller side we where told our room would come with fireplace, which it didn't. We where told that if we purchased a suite our room would come with a "free buffet breakfast for 2", come to find out everyone gets this, even if you don't purchase a suite.

This hotel offers one and two bedroom suites with separate living and sleeping areas, and a fully equipped kitchen. A pretty decent complimentary breakfast was available all days of the week, and Monday through Thursday there was a social gathering although we did not partake. There is an indoor pool, whirlpool, and exercise room. The morning paper was available to guests on a first come, first serve basis, but there were plenty available when we stayed there. Wireless internet incurs no extra fees. We had a gas-operated fireplace in our suite and thought it added a cozy feel.

This hotel has no beautiful views and is convenient to I-95. It is only a couple of exits away from the outlet shopping centers in Kittery, Maine.

This modern highrise hotel, located at the north end of town near the junction of M27 and the M275, is a full service hotel. It is quite expensive, although we stayed at a group rate arranged for a business conference. It is convenient to the Port Solent waterfront development for shopping and restaurants, and the M275 provides rapid access to the downtown areas which are further away. The lobby offers a lounge with food as well as a restaurant. Both were expensive, somewhat slow and offered average food. Room service was courteous and prompt.

The room itself was comfortably large and well furnished. Our most vivid memory of the hotel will be of the poltergeist that seemed to turn the bathroom light on and off whenever I was in it, but reversing before my wife could observe the change. She finally believed me when the TV did the same to her. Okay, it was probably just bad wiring, but it still offered many laughs. On the other hand, bad wiring is not a suitable attribute of a full priced hotel.
