Goodwin Hotel

The best part of this hotel is its fabulous architecture (a former home of JP Morgan); the interior of the home was gutted to create this hotel but the wonderful exterior remains, creating a 19th elegant sensation each and every time one enters or leaves this hotel. Also, the hotel is in central Hartford which is reviving. One can easily walk to all the attractions (world famous Hartford Stage) and enjoy the feel of a small city with sidewalk cafes, cute dress shops and waterfront edge path. Looking out of my hotel room on a side street, I felt I was inside an Edward Hopper painting. The hotel appointments are standard upscale: everything was clean and elegant. The lobby, smartly decorated in art-dco styled chairs, featured live piano music with free champagne on a Wednesday evening when we arrived. My booked double-bed suite wasn't available (because hotel was full) so we were upgraded to an executive suite with free breakfasts (@ $12.50) for two people for 3 days. Staff was great and they seemed truly happy to be working there. A great experience overall!

Our stay at the Goodwin was very pleasant. We enjoyed the spacious room and the friendly and helpful doormen/women most. I wish all hotel stays turned out to be this pleasant.

Very nice hotel and staff, clean and pet friendly, which was the main reason we stayed there.

Perfect Hotel

This is the finest hotel that I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in many expensive and luxurious hotels. Every staff member greeted me with a smile and welcome. The city's finest restaurant is directly across the small street. The neighborhood includes many other fine restaurants and a large city park. It is within walking distance of the convention center, Mark Twian's houise, and the state capital.
