Great Deal - Spend money you save shopping

Traveled with twin boys age 9. A little concerned about reviews but when we got to the hotel we were presently surprised. The rooms were nice though bed was pretty stiff and I like hard beds. Back was a little sore after 4 days on the beds. Breakfast was excellent in the hotel. We left the hotel every morning at 0830 on tours and didn't get back to the hotel until around 1000 p.m. This is not a good place to stay if you are looking at walking out your hotel to shop for good deals. You must take a shuttle or taxi to the shopping areas (Lido, Pearl Market, Silk Market) but the money you save staying here will make up for the shuttles. The Holiday Inn Lido is very close to shopping and the hotel has nice restaurants (plus Starbucks) but you pay twice as much. And who really stays in a room much. You won't be disappointed.

AVOID at any cost

You will arrive and there will be no room for you. They will then change your room to something other than what you had a CONFIRMED reservation for. They will charge you MORE money than your "guaranteed" reservation rate . Holiday Inn does not stand by their guarantee here. Complete rip off. You are at their mercy. You will get a smoking room for MORE money even if you had a CONFIRMED reservation for a non-smoking room at a lower rate. Good luck dealing with the Holiday Inn call center. You will get routed to the Phillipines. Very unethical and bad business. Horrible experience. The hotel is in the middle of no where. This is a Holiday Inn in name only. There is no guarantee that protects you here at all.

BUFFET BREAKFAST EXCELLENT, FANTASTIC HOTEL SERVICE ~!

Location is about 10-15 min Taxi ride from main Beijing city, but with Taxi's lined up by the Hotel, its very easy to get around. Its 5 min Taxi rides to Main St where TONS of Restaurants, shops, and Supermarket are. FREE Buffet Breakfast is EXCELLENT- alot of variety of bakery goods, chinese dishes, American ( waffles, omlettes made custom for you) and good quality food and atmosphere. Hotel service is FANTASTIC- they are polite and nice, treats you very well. Room was overall Good, modern interior, room service excellent.

A perfect place on the first trip to China

Our family's first trip to China started at this hotel. An american family with a loose grip on Mandarin was able to get around with the help of the staff. The rooms had nice views of the Temple of Heaven and local color. In a very safe neighborhood (due to jetlag, we wandered around the streets by the hotel at 3am with no problem). Taxis were plentiful and we walked the distance up to the Temple of Heaven. Taxis taking us back to hotel had no problem finding it. The prices were good, the rooms were nice, and the breakfast was satisfying.

I highly reccommend this hotel.Great location ( not on the Westernized Wangfujing circut but not far from it either), great hotel with everything you could need. Best deal I have ever found on a hotel. Not like a typical Holiday Inn. It has character.
