Stayed in cottage with kitchen, away from highway traffic.Good shower in small bathroom. Clean. Grounds are most interesting part, private park in back, great if you bring a dog. Note 1933 construction monument near entrance. You must enter property from Highway 1 South at Oliver. Do not try to enter from Oliver coming from Rio Road. Parking entrance only open from Highway 1. A rustic experience, near Crossroads shopping center.

My husband & I stayed at the Carmel River Inn for two nights in May and absolutely loved the ambience. Our cottages on both visits were absolutely gorgeous and beautifully decorated. Loved being able to sit outside on the balcony and enjoy the fragrances of the outdoors and to be close to nature, It was very nice to see the various species of birds on this property. The staff was very helpful and most courteous. Can't wait to come back! Greg & Maria Carlson, North Hills, CA

This hotel was quaint, clean and surprisingly nice. The private balcony overlooking the river was a plus. A really great deal! The hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating. I'd definately stay here again.
Disappointing

Not nearly as nice as described. Maybe cottages are nicer, but motel section was dated, smelled funny, and 'river view' was obscured by dead trees. We were stuck with two doubles after reserving king online. Dog in next room thumped tail on wall all night. Just overall a bad experience. Thought we were getting quaint local inn based on website. Should have stayed at chain hotel for the same price.
