Description: The goal of our trip was to immerse ourselves in Buenos Aires; to live like a local. So we decided to rent an apartment. A friend of ours had used a service called ApartmentsBA, which owns and manages apartments in neighborhoods around the city.
We rented a luxury studio named UNOC19 for nine nights in July 2011, and had an absolutely wonderful experience. ApartmentsBA was a great company to work with; they honored every request we had - including late check-out. They even arranged for a service to pick us up from the airport. They have a concierge available during business hours; we did not use this service.
The main room of the studio was divided by a set of bookshelves housing the television, which could be flipped to face either the living room or bedroom areas. The living room featured a dining table with four chairs and a two person sofa and coffee table. The bedroom featured night stands and a king size, very comfortable bed. The bathroom was very modern - one sink, tub with a shower, bidet and toilet. The kitchen featured granite counter tops and modern appliances, including a washing machine.
The apartment was listed for $75 a night, with a weekly rate of $500. Our nine night stay cost $650 - with a $45 booking fee and a 3.5% CC fee the total came to $719.33. Half was paid at the time of the reservation, and the other half was paid 15 days prior to arrival, as was the $800 security deposit (which was refunded within a week of check out).
Highlights:
- Location - you could not have asked for a better location. The building was two blocks from Place Italia, home to a Subte stop and plenty of taxis, and a ten minute walk to Plaza Serrano/Cortazar.
- Security - There is 24-hour security (not that you need it in the neighborhood).
- Unit Amenities - The kitchen was absolutely beautiful. All the appliances worked perfectly. The laundry machine was a life saver - there is not dryer, but a drying rack was provided. The balcony and view were the best features of the unit.
- Building Amenities - There is a large rooftop gym with amazing views. The laundry room in the basement requires a key, which we did not have, so ask for it. It was winter when we visited so we did not use the pool, but it was very welcoming.
Negatives/Suggestions for Improvement:
- Water temperature was a bit erratic - in the morning there was plenty of hot water, later in the day during one shower the water would get hot and then cold and then hot.
- The security guards did not recognize us for the first few days, but once they did there was no issue entering. I advise the property company to create a pass for renters to show upon entering.
I highly recommend this property.
