Setting
In Heerhugowaard is not much to do. There is an old centre and a large indoor shopping mall. Alkmaar is situated about 7 km and easily accessible. So if you have time, it is worth it.
Arrival
Long before arrival we were called. The lady at the reception wanted to know about what time we would arrive. When we said we wanted to first have a look in Heerhugowaard, that was no problem and we could check in later. There was the possibility by checking in the hotel with a code that they would give to you because there is no 24 hour reception. We didn’t use this because we were going to be on time. At the reception we could cast a glance at the restaurant and it looked neat and nice. But first we wanted to go see our room.
Hotel
After checking in, we could into our room. This was almost directly opposite the reception, but only outside. The hotel is actually part of a low rise with two floors, which look a bit odd. Although it is neat. At both sides of the buildings are stairs to go to the second floor.
The room
After entering the code you can open the door. The bed was on the right side of the room, wide and high with two bedside tables and lighting. Opposite the bed is a flat screen TV against the wall. There is a closet in the room containing a desk and some equipment for a cup of tea or coffee. Against the back wall is the door to the bathroom unfortunately without bath. But it has a large shower and two sinks with plenty of space. There is also a hair-drier. And enough towels were ready to use them. There were also small bottles of shower gel and shampoo.
Breakfast
We booked our room including breakfast. You can have breakfast the next day up to 11 hours. For me a good time, you can sleep in and feel at home take a shower and then go to the breakfast. We were right on time. The breakfast buffet looked good. Variety of breads, biscuits, cakes and delicious fillings. There was smoked salmon, carpaccio, fried egg and fried bacon. Also fresh fruit, fresh orange juice and milk are not lacking. Coffee and tea we could get as much as we wanted. This also again looked good and tasted delicious! Everything was nice and fresh and of good quality.
Peculiar
There were actually two peculiarities for this hotel. First we were told at check in that while having a shower, you had to close the door otherwise it is possible that the steam would turn on the smoke alarm and that the fire brigade would be alerted. The second was that you shouldn’t forget the code since there is no night reception, so had to get help from the outside. We were told that we are responsible for both and also had to pay for both.
Prices of rooms
There are two types of rooms: single rooms and double rooms. The price of a single room is € 85, - including breakfast. For a double room you pay 10 euro’s more and you come out so at € 95, - for one night.
My opinion
On weekends it's nice and quiet. The road passes by the hotel is not as busy. We stood outside for a while, but there was nothing nearby to hear. This hotel has a good restaurant, I did not expect, but they do everything to ensure that you have a good time as a guest. Whether you're a guest of the hotel, or a night out and you will enjoy eating. Everything on the site looks neat and cared for and the people are very friendly. The room is neat and exudes peace and wealth. The official qualification is 3 star, but I must say that I find it worth four stars, you see that effort has been made. All in all I have at the hotel restaurant well enjoyed my stay and really enjoyed my visit. I can definitely recommend.
