Vermont Vacation

An August 2001 trip to Rutland by Janem

Quote: This was an opportunity to return to a location that I used to enjoy while I was single. The location did not fail me. The scenery was as spectacular as ever.

Vermont Vacation

Overview

Quote:
The first thing we did was visit the outdoor market in Rutland. There the local farmers displayed their wares, and we were able to purchase delicious blueberry and rasberry pies, along with fresh vegetables.

The golf courses are great and challenging. The resorts we visited were really something else. We shopped in Manchester, which holds many factory outlets. During the latter part of August, there are sidewalk sales.

Quick Tips:

One week is not long enough to see everything that is available. If you are planning a trip to this area, take at least two weeks and relax.

Best Way To Get Around:

A vehicle is really the best way to get around the area.

Best Things Nearby:This resort is at the base of Killington Mountain range, and during the winter months you can ski in and out of the resort. During the summer months there is a golf course across the street. The view is wonderful and the course is a real challenge. You should use the cart because you are either going up hill or down hill. There are water slides near by, plus many gorges to view. Woodstock is quite interesting. Also the train ride from manchester to bennington is fun for the children who have never experienced such.Best Things About the Resort:Althought this was a one bedroom, it actually had room for eight people to sleep quite comfortably, and it had t...Read More

Best Things Nearby:There were several golf courses near by, but you did require a vehicle. One of the courses was an Executive par 3, which was quite fun to play. Manchester, Vermont which was about an hour away, offered factory outlet shopping. Best Things About the Resort:Again this timeshare was cleaned by the hotel staff on a daily basis. The staff would leave packages of fresh ground Vermont coffee for us to use each day, which was most appreciated. The resort had a heated pool which could be accessed from inside. This resort is at the base of Mount Snow, so for those who enjoy skiing during the winter months it is ideal. Once you arrive there, you no longer need y...Read More
