The Ulysees walk, taking in the Joyce Museum, Sweeny's the chemists, Trinity College and naturally a number of bars, is a must for anyone who has managed to get through the masterpiece. The Guinness factory at St James' Gate, with a free pint of the black at the end, was somewhat jolly, and the newly installed Francis Bacon Studio at the Hugh Lane Galley is a must for art lovers. Best of all, Kilmainham Gaol, a fascinating building with a museum to crime and punishment and a story of the Irish Republic.

The public transport in Dublin is excellent, however, I recommend walking as the best way to get around. You'll miss so much otherwise, and there is no better way to take in the atmosphere of the city than to wander off the main streets.
