Restaurant | "The Red Coach Inn"

The Red Coach Inn was built in 1923 to resemble the Old Bell Inn in Finedon, England. Their wonderful restaurant offers an extensive continental menu in the cozy ambience of an English pub. The Main Dining Room has a natural stone fireplace and their flower-laden patio makes for wonderful summer dining. The Rapids Room offers a panoramic view of the Rapids of the Niagara River, and the bar features an array of wines, flavored coffees, cappuccino, and beers from around the world. The specialty of the house is prime rib, but they offer all types of delicious daily specials. And don't miss the owner's delectable creation served with every dinner--whipped strawberry butter to spread over the warm homemade bread.

American FallsBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

The falls are 12,000 years old and nearly 200 feet high. Over 150,000 gallons of water fall every second. Just imagine the roar of that much water. Feel the mist on your face and gaze at the rainbows that hover over the water. Be sure to keep your children in strollers or hold their hands tightly. The railings are not designed to keep children from climbing on them. Be sure to return in the evening to see this natural wonder illuminated with changing multi-colored lights.

Maid of the MistBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

This is by far the most popular activity in Niagara Falls. Millions of visitors including Princess Diana and her sons, Price Andrew and Fergie, and Former US President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn have enjoyed the Maid of the Mist boat tours. It's one of the oldest tourist attractions in North America. It first sailed in 1846.

This ride is safe for children, but I would not feel comfortable taking children under 10 unless there was one adult to each chld. They provide life jackets and rain gear.

Old Fort NiagaraBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

This fort was begun by the French in 1726, and includes the only French fortified castle in the United States. This fort was not only occupied by the French, but also the British and finally the Americans. Its key position at the mouth of the Niagara River on Lake Ontario made it valuable to those who wanted to control the trade routes to the Great Lakes. The forts original stone buildings were built before the American Revolution. It has been restored and furnished to re-create the 18th century atmosphere. Re-enactments are held throughout the year. Drills and ceremonies are presented July through Labor Day. Special programs are offered. Historic Hauntings is a candlelight tour offered near Halloween complete with hair raising tales and cemetery tours. Also enjoyable is the murder mystery dinner theatre offered at the fort.
