San Francisco - Lots of Pictures!

Overview

From the tourists and locals in line for Sears little pancakes, to the homeless, not that many blocks over, waiting in line for their shelter breakfast, the locals won't give the place up and the tourists won't leave it alone. Why? This place has charm - it just feels good to be here. Can't explain it but to say that.Quick Tips: I myself was a tourist, so I agree it is hypocrital of me to say this, but here goes: This is the most tourist-infested city I have ever been in. Not like there are more tourists, although that could be a true statement, it's just that they are so touristy. I, like, noticed more cameras and tourist adventure casual wear than usual...Read More

Location, location, location - this hotel's got it. Right on Powell, between Sutter and Post, on the cable car line and Union Square, and across from the Sir Francis Drake. In the morning, the Chancellor guest can have a bite to eat in the Chancellor Cafe downstairs (they make excellent, after a few attempts, crisp, dry bacon), or go next door to Sears, home of little pancakes, or have a continental breakfast buffet in the lobby's little bar/lounge, or have some complimentary foo-foo brand coffee, tea and designer cookies while sitting in the little lobby looking out the bright, front windows or while chatting with a tour agent at the little tour booth, also there in the lobby. ...Read More

Cocktails, appetizers and dinner entrees are served from 5 pm til 12 am here, but I was here for a dinner, held in the hotel's little banquet room, which included a hosted bar with appetizers served in this little lounge. The appetizers were incredible! I could not stop eating this gouda/parmesan torte thing. I collected handful after handful of light water crackers in which to spread the cheese from my TWO slices of torte! I had never had anything like it and I didn't think I ever would again, so I didn't want to miss out. It was sooo good! I enjoyed having the socializing portion of the dinner in this clubby little bar lounge. It's just there, straight past the front desk as you...Read More

I had breakfast in this little cafe off the little lobby of my little boutique hotel, the Chancellor. It was a delight! I had breakfast with two friends that live in San Francisco, my tour guides. Anyway, I didn't think anyone could be more precise and exact in what they wanted, when ordering in a restaurant, than me. They were worse! I forget exactly what they wanted, but I wanted my bacon crisp and dry, my eggs scrambled well with one slice of American cheese (comfort food - I love the real cheeses as much as anyone) on top, and my toast dry and toasted well. Oh, and I had pancakes too. I was really hungry. Did the waitress roll her eyes? Even once? Nope, in...Read More

http://www.africancoupons.com/California/sfo/City_Pass/city_pass.html Driving and managing a car in alot of San Francisco sucks. You can add daily parking rates of $20-$40 to your hotel bill and, if you want to drive yourself to all the different tourist sites, you can pay high parking rates at each of those places as well. Or, you can get a City Pass. Good for seven days of unlimited Municipal travel which includes all the buses, streetcars and, especially, the cable cars! The Muni and Cable Car 7-Day Pass is regularly priced at $15. I combined this with just one of the attractions the little City Pass booklet makes free, the Blue and Gold Fleet Cruise (a boat to...Read More

Lombard Street

Attraction

Lombard Street Photo, San Francisco, California

If doing a driving tour of the city, this street will probably be on your list. It is located between Leavenworth, at the top, and Hyde, at the bottom. In case you don't know, it's a very steep street that was built back in the 20's, in a back and forth, slow, one-way (down) direction. Thus, the stunning views of the city, the bay, and even the golden gate bridge (far away off in the corner), are accentuated. The backside of Lombard Street, where you have to wait in line for your turn to go down the other side, is almost as steep going up as the famous other side is going down. In other words, manual or automatic, be good at working your rental's transmission. Of course, ...Read More
