Overview

Barboursville Winery
Virginia vintage is starting to make a splash - causing wine-lovers to sit up and take notice. No longer the effervescent grape juice people remember from the past, Virginia wines have grown-up with a debutante showing worthy of aristocracy. Thomas Jefferson would be quite proud that American soils have finally produced vintage equal to that of the Old Country. The following vinyards are but a sampling of the best around the Charlottesville area.

Quick Tips:

Bring some fruit and cheese for munchies as there isn't much to eat along the way. A picnic basket would be even better!

Best Way To Get Around:

Driving is a must since many vineyards are off the main roads. Be sure to have a designated driver - several of the roads sport many curves, some are in the mountains, and you may be enveloped in fog.
