As a skier for the last 50 years (looks to me like it was just yesterday!) who skied many slopes, I would consider the ski resorts around Banff in the Rockies as one of the finest in the world. Excellent facilities, very challenging runs, dry snow, almost no crowds and very friendly people could make any skier more than happy to experience skiing in this part of the world. Sunshine Village and Lake Louise should be on your list as the "must be there". For cross-country skiers unlimited possibilities are open to explore from Banff to surrounding areas.Quick Tips: Staying in Banff is a very wise choise. After skiing all day on the slopes, you would like to experience Canadian hospitality and Ba...Read More

Sunshine Village This one of the best natural snow skiing in the Rockies, at a high elevation. The ski area is spread across three mountains, with more than 33 feet of snow received annually. First, at the bottom of the hill you should take the new gondola. On the way up, the first station is for Goat's Eye Mountain. Many black and blue runs will satisfy your curiosity and improve your skiing skills. At the end of gondola run is a lodge with a restaurant and alpine skiing. Here you can show your true colors as a skier who likes to experience challenge and adventure. Many fast ski lifts will take you to varieties of ski runs and the incredible vistas of the...Read More

Kananaskis Lakes in Kananaskis Country offer one of the largest systems of cross-country skiing, 120 km east of Banff. This area located outside of the Banff National Park offers cross -country skiers many pleasant challenges and unforgettable scenery. A very good highway (Trans Canada Hwy. No 1, then Highway No. 40) with excellent access is only 1.2 hr drive from Banff. Or you could take a more adventurous highway from Canmore to Spray Lakes and then take the gravel Smith-Dorrien highway -open during the winter months. You will see spectacular Spray Lakes in the higher elevation on your way to the Kananaskis Lakes and cross-country ski area. The best skiing time is (in this ...Read More

Skiing in the Canadian Rockies and mostly in Nakiska is a pleasure and nice surpise: no crowds and waiting time at the ski lifts... Daily groomed runs with a variety of terrain makes it the perfect convenient ski experience for the family. At base of the hill is a restaurant and in the lodge other facilities can support you during cold skiing days. Renting facilities with downhill and snowboard equipment compliment this fine ski resort. The best skiing time is from the middle of December to the first days of April. Banff located in the middle of the Canadian Rockies is a Skiers Paradise destination. Banff Mount Norquay ski resort is the one of them located in the heart of the Banff National Park. Very close to Banff with night skiing. Serviced by five speedy lifts. Very challenging runs. Many guests ask a typical question..."How were the crowds" and my favored answer: "For Europeans - empty for North Americans moderate"! This is the only ski resort who beside the full or half day lift ticket charge you per skiing hour. Many cross-country ski trails are very well prepared in the area. This is the only ski resort located in Banff. Skiing terrain is good for every level of skier. Night skiing is offered ...Read More

This is my favorite skiing place in Western Canada!!!! Panorama is located 180 km (112 miles) west Banff or 308 km (192 miles) west of Calgary. (Call 1-800-663-2929) Panorama is the place for Heli-Skiing in the Rockies. Downhill skiing here is EXCELLENT, as well as snowboarding and cross-country. If you have ever said that you skied many places and nothing surprised you any more, I would have to disagree with you and say, "sorry fellow", but you are wrong! This mountain village was built exclusively for people who like to be in the middle of the mountains, and is specialized to please any kind of skier. I who have skied many hills, in many places have to adm...Read More
