We celebrated my son's birthday with a dinner at Turner Fisheries in the Westin Hotel. We started with a thick New England clam chowder full of clams and potatoes in a creamy base. We had a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon 1987. After admiring the festive lights in the square through the large plate glass windows and enjoying the ministrations of our waitress we decided on the steamed Asian seafood dish. This was served in a steaming bamboo basket lined with seaweed and bamboo slivers. The dish contained half a lobster back and a claw, several wonderful mussels, three different slices of fish - salmon, swordfish and tuna- as well as jumbo shrimp and succulent scallops and julienne vegetables. There were three different sauces served with each dish to allow the diner the choice of spicy or bland dips. Dinner was served with traditional table ware as well as chopsticks, which we all used. Service was very attentive and much ice water was consumed and constantly replenished. Seating was in a banquette in a quiet section of the restaurant, allowing us the privilege of private conversations. We didn't take dessert, we had a special cake at home for the birthday celebration.

Quick tips/suggestions
Since the restaurant is at the bottom floor of the Westin Hotel at Copley Place and is directly linked with the elegant Copley Place Mall, one can window shop after the sumptious meal and look at stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks 5th Ave., Sharper Image and many other fashionable shops and boutiques. An added incentive for the out-of-town visitor is a stay at the five star Westin Hotel with its large, well appointed accomodations with amenities and service suitable for royalty.

Since parking in any area of Boston is difficult it should be mentioned that there is a very large indoor garage attached to the hotel and valet parking is available. Taxis for short trips are readily found and the Mass. Turnpike is just around the corner for a quick getaway.
