Attempt to do New Orleans in a Day!

Overview

Quote:
Food and partying. These are the two things that New Orleans is known for, and it does not disappoint! Bourbon Street is the place to go. I recommend going to Patty O’Brien’s for fun during the day, and then bar hopping during the evening. Quick Tips: Here's a quick rundown of how I did New Orleans in a day: Landed in New Orleans at 11:30am, hit the airport bar until a little after 12pm. Went to Mother's for lunch. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND Mother's for a typical southern lunch. Get a Po' Boy, which is a big sandwich that's served soggy, and grits. You can't go wrong with the Gumbo, either. After that, we went to the Harrah's casino, which is right across the street for an hour. Around ...Read More

This was my favorite resturant in New Orleans. It was almost like the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld. You wait on line for them to "allow you" into the resturant. Then, you have to go directly to the line inside to place your order. They have a big chalkboard-like menu for you to look at. Then, you place your order, and move down the line. You have to be quick, though, or they'll tell you how slow you're going! After you place your order, you move down the line, and they prepare your food for you and put it on your tray. Then, you pay for your food, then you go to the bar for your drink. And God forbid if you sit down before you have your food and paid for it! They'll make you get up! ...Read More

This place is right across the street from Mother's resturant, and is sort of an eyesore. The inside of the place is also pretty blah. I was never a big fan of Harrah's hotels anywhere, and this place was no different. There are about 120 + gaming tables and quite a few different types of games. I guess I can't complain much since I won $500 in 10 minutes at the craps table, but the atmosphere didn't give me that cozy feeling. Something that struck me odd about this place is the fact that you can see outside from the casino. Almost EVERY casino I've been to have the 2 golden rules: No Windows, and No Clocks! At least they got it half right. My suggestion is to skip this plac...Read More

Home of the famous Hurricane drink, or as they say, "A visit to Pat O'Brien's is not complete without a world-famous Hurricane!!"

Just like most places in New Orleans, this place was fun from beginning to end. The bartenders were very cool and chatted with us for quite a long time. The music was perfect and so was the atmosphere. Definitely worth a trip here at least once!

A little tip. The glass that they serve the Hurricane in is a much sought-after Souvenir. If I remember correctly, you actually have to pay for the glass when you order it, and they will refund you the difference if you deciede not to keep the glass.
