Overview

Well, other than the obvious (gambling), there are quite a few things to do in Las Vegas. First and foremost are the shows and attractions. Unfortunately Aaron Carter was headlining at the hotel we stood at (the Mandolay Bay), so there were quite a few kids all over the hotel, but the Luxor (which is connected to the Mandolay Bay by walkway and tram) had the Blue Man Group, which I HIGHLY recommend seeing. Since we met up with some of our friends who were "High Rollers", we got into a few clubs without waiting on lines. We went to the club "Rain" at the Palm Hotel. We had a Sky Box room, which they promptly kicked out Robin Leach so we could have it! That was a pretty memorable moment!Quick ...Read More

The accommodations were actually much better than I thought they would be. Each room were standard size, but the bathrooms were pretty big. Each had a seperate tub and shower, and two sinks. One of my pet peeves though are hotels that seperate the toilet from the sink. The toilet was in a VERY small room in the back of the bathroom closed off by a door. As most of the hotels that I've stayed at in Vegas, they assume a couple is staying in every room. The Rio had a window between the main room and the shower. Here at Mandalay Bay, the rooms are seperated by double doors that you can see through between each door. In another sort of oddity, and if your are very superstitious, they have a 1...Read More

Not all it was cracked up to be. I'm not a big fan of these "Famous Chef" restaurants, ESPECIALLY if they try to be "Fine Dining" and serve pizza on the menu. The service was pretty good and the lasagna was very, very good (which is a rarity). I've come to the conclusion that 99% of the Italian restaurants that dare put lasgna on their menu do not know how to make it. The portions were pretty large. Desert was nothing special. All in all, with a party of 5, the price wasn't too bad at $165 (without wine). Though we didn't look at the selection, they do have a wine list. And last, but not least, for $35, you can buy Wolfgang Puck's Cookbook right at the restaurant!

This place is what I would describe as a "Fancy diner". It's casual dining with views of the man-made beach. It's open 24 hours a day and is the perfect place to go if you are either sick of or do not care for the Buffet. They serve typical American fare, with some not too typical. You can have a Continental Breakfast or Eggs Benedict. I had the Eggs Benedict and they were so-so. I don't think the Hollandaise sauce was real! The decor is suprisingly stuffy. The service is pretty good, and the price is typical hotel restaurant price for breakfast, which is probably the only thing this place is good for.

This is a pretty big club. The problem with most places in Vegas are long lines. This place was CROWDED!!! So, either get there early or find yourself a high roller to get you in without the wait! If you like pounding music, mostly bass-y techno/club music, this place is for you. Not sure how much drinks were since we had a Sky Box, but if that's what you are going for, expect to pay close to $2000 for the night! There were quite a few singles there, but mostly a younger crowd. Early to mid-twenties. I liked the Ghost Bar better, which is in the same hotel. We also spotted a celebrity. Robin Leach was at both clubs. From what the bartenders were telling us, it's not unusual to spot a f...Read More

The casino here is actually pretty large, with quite a few gaming tables. I'm used to hotels that have 2 or 3 craps tables in the whole place. Here they had at least 10 tables. The other good thing is that if you're not enjoying yourself here, they have a walkway to the Luxor hotel or a tram to the Luxor and Excalibur hotels. Luxor is worth the walk... The Excalibur is NOT.

Only a quick synopsis since I didn't like this place very much and we left rather quickly. First, the place was too crowded. Second, the people were rowdy, and third, and this is a personal preference, there was too much obscure rock 'n' roll music for my taste. It's also a big tourist trap. I know, Las Vegas is one big tourist trap, but this place was over the top. The roulette tables were shaped like pianos for cryin' out loud!
