Del Mar is a small coastal town just north of San Diego. Solano Beach is the main attraction of the area, although the Del Mar Racetrack is also very popular. Solano beach is quite a nice strip of sand and a great spot for picnics, surfing, walking your dog, or just catching some rays. At one of the park entrances there is a park with typical playground equipment for small children, and a paved walking path runs parallel to the coast. You'll find several fine restaurants towards the north end of the beach should you get hungry, and a short walk away from the beach there are clothing and souvenir shops.
