Barely Legal in Las Vegas

A March 2001 trip to Las Vegas by risenmessiah

How to enjoy Las Vegas despite being slightly younger than the law would hope.

Fremont stree at night is always great for the uninitiated. The Bellagio garden also is quite an achievement.

Quick Tips:

Go with the right people. Moreso than other place I have been to, Las Vegas requires people with the right frame of mind.

Best Way To Get Around:

Taxis are about all you have to go on, other than long walks or labyrinthe hunts for the entrance to the monorails.

Hotel

The rooms are extremely spacious, and have the little amenties that are lacking in most chain hotels in America. The staff and persons are generally quite helpful, and like their jobs. Also, unlike many casinos, the entire property is smoke free.

Drai's proved to be a gem of an experience. Las Vegas has plenty of serious dining establishments, but Drai's is for the person that likes being a little ahead of everyone else. Located in the basement of the Barbary Coast, you do not suspect that you are going to see fine dining in the midst of a garish casino, but you do. Cuisine is excellent, and also exceedingly balanced. I made resevations about three hours before my friend and I wanted to eat and found there to be little standing in the way of our appetite. There is no hard and fast dress code, though you will feel out of place in T-shirt and jeans. Also, the service is extremely deferential to couples and as such my female friend and I ended up being ignored for an hour because they thought we were a couple. Caveat Emptor.
