I visit Treasure Beach every year in Feb. This year I did a more site seeing and visited some other places to stay. We always stay at the same place, which is wonderful but will only allow 6 people. This is a great rural area of Jamaica.

Calabash Bay
The best is the incredible food fixed by the house staff and served by the pool. You can't beat the rum and ginger beer and floating in the pool that overlooks the ocean.

Quick Tips:

This is a great place to go if you want to rest and be waited on. It doesn't take much to get in the mood with the very low key attitude of the friendly locals and the slow pace of rural Jamaica.

The best way to get any and all information on Treasure Beach is through the web site

Best Way To Get Around:

The best way to get around is with Rebecca from treasure beach tours. She is an outstanding driver and will give you lots of tips on what to do and what not to. Jamaica has the highest auto fatalities of any country, and I would never recommend driving yourself.

inside room
Since the house we have always rented will only hold six and we had two extras this year, we rented a room at Sunset Villas. It is located right next door to the house we were renting so it made it very convenient. I believe the room that is the nicest is the Caribbean room. It sits higher than all the rest and has a private deck all the way around it. There is a pool and is located on the beach front. There is a restaurant in the hotel which is very good.

The rooms were well-kept and the staff was very helpful. The sunsets from the deck were incredible and the view from the private deck was breathtaking. The room had a small refrigerator, TV and air conditioning. It was a perfect place to rent given the location and the price and convenience.

rainbow villa
We went on a tour of larger houses since our travel group has expanded to 8 now. This is a marvelous villa right outside Treasure Beach. It has 6000 sqaure feet and a staff of 3 to meet all your needs. The cost of the house is 2400 USD for the first 4 and 10% additional for each extra person. There is a pool that looks over the ocean and the grounds are well-groomed with local vegetation. The house has been decorated and furnished with local art and furnishings giving it a great local feel. The kitchen is large and the rooms are great. There are four bedrooms including two master suites. You pay for the food and the staff purchases and prepares it. The average cost of food is $150 USD per person. This is a great house for adults and children. The walk to the beach was a bit longer than some of the other houses that we visited but would not be a problem for most folks.

Rainbow Tree Villa
Treasure Beach Treasure Beach, Jamaica

view of the pool
This is a real getaway. The Unforgettable is further out of the center of the small Treasure Beach community. It is a spectacular spot. It is on a large lot away from everything. There is a staff like all the other houses for rent. It sleeps 6 to 10 very comfortably and has a full staff to meet all your needs. There are porches all around, a gazebo type building at the point for watching the spectacular sunsets and view of the ocean. The beach is very private and the house has been very comfortably furnished. It is a great value, especially when you consider the staff fixes your meals to your liking and makes sure your all your needs are met. The drawback for this villa is that it is further out of town and would be harder if you wish to take a walk into town from time to time to visit other resturaunts and shops. It is a beautiful spot and if you want privacy and don't plan to do much but lay around and take in the view and beauty, this is the place for you.

sunset villa lunch
The food and service were wonderful. We had lunch here one day and were delighted with it. They had some American food as well as local cuisine. I had a jerk chicken sandwich which was great. The salad one of my friends had could have served several people and was made with fresh local vegitables. Even though it was lunch we indulged in some of their rum fruit punch drinks. The drinks were made with fresh fruits in a smoothie type drink with wonderful Jamaican rum. The total cost including drinks, lunch, tip and dessert was only $10 each and was well worth it. In addition to the great food we had the view of a lifetime while we ate. It was a great place to have a meal and relax and enjoy the paradise we were in.

Attraction

water fall
This is a great waterfall on private property that has been opened to the public. They have done a great job of preserving the natural beauty while allowing lots of people to enjoy the beauty of their natural treasure.

There are lifeguards that help you get on the rope swing and also assist you as you swim into and behind the waterfall.

When you arrive you pay a fee of $10US to enjoy the grounds and ride on a tractor pulled train to the bottom of the waterfall. The grounds are gorgeous with lots of flowers and and well-kept natural habitat. We hired Rebecca of Treasure Tours to take us. She did a nice job of explaining the sites along the way and made sure we got the most of our trip.

When you get to the falls you will have a short walk to the water. The flowers and plants along the way are spectacular. The first thing to do is climb the steps to the top which is where the largest falls can be viewed. After you have finished there you will want to walk back down to the lower falls and the beautiful pools of water which provide a refreshing place to swim.
