The club scene is definitely something to check out. There are bunches of places and the newer "hot spots" tend to attract celebrities. No matter what you hear, Fremont Street is a must at least once. I had been to Vegas before and missed out on it, but I am definitely glad we went this time. No, the hotels downtown are not as big and grand as the ones on The Strip, but the show is neat & the look of downtown can't be matched by the Strip. Personally, I like staying in the newer hotels down on the strip. It seems to be a younger crowd and it's easier to get to the nightclubs and other fun & new stuff (Shopping, cheap activities, tours, etc).Quick Tips: If you loo...Read More

Before our trip to Vegas, I had read several reviews on The Paris. None of them seemed to cast the hotel in a good light. I was not looking all that forward to staying there, even after talking to a guy who spent a month in Vegas hotel-hopping and swore Paris was the best. However, my two friends LOVE all things French and really wanted to stay there. And since we got a good (AmEx Cardholders) rate, I went along with it. I was pleasantly surprised at my experience there. Ok, well ONE bad thing did happen: When we arrived to check-in, the lines were very long because their computers were down. No one told us the computers were down, we just heard as word traveled through the ...Read More

Just inside the Mirage, there's a glassed room off to the side, where you can observe a lone white tiger. This white tiger is only a preview of the actual exhibit. If you're looking for a good daytime "family" activity (they stop letting people in at 3:30, it closes at 5), this is a good, fairly cheap one. To get there, head towards the back doors of the Mirage, and head outside. To your left is the Mirage pool, and to your left is a pathway leading towards the Gardens. At the gate, you pay an entrance fee of $10/person. Through the gates, everyone gathers on a bridge as a tour guide waits for enough people to begin the tour (about 5 minutes). The tour guide leads you to a platf...Read More

The last time we were in Vegas the one thing I regretted was not checking out more of the club scene. Our first night in town, we decided that we would try Studio 54 @ the MGM Grand. Heading out from our hotel (Paris) about 11, we thought about taking the cab, except one of my friends said "it wasn't that far" and that we should walk. In 3-inch heels. In 40 degree weather (We're from Texas! That's cold!). So, we walked and walked and walked. By the time we got there, dancing at a club was the last thing we wanted to do. Our feet hurt! So, my advice: take a cab! After resting, we finally decided to head towards the club. We stood in line about 30 minutes between some giggly u...Read More

(I thought this was good info & it wouldn't all fit in the "How to get around" box!) Besides the always available free option of walking or the fairly cheap option of taking a cab, there are other ways to get around. Shuttles/Limos If you fly into McCarran, and you're not in a huge hurry and want to save a little cash: instead of taking a cab, go out the "Shuttle/Limousines" door (From baggage claim: the "Taxis" door is straight ahead and the "Shuttles/Limos" door is to your left, past the car rental counters)... and take a Shuttle to your hotel. For $4-5, Bell Trans Shuttles, CLS Transportation, Gray Line, or Star Transit will take you to your hotel on The Strip or Downt...Read More

I've been to some of these, but not all. I just did a bunch of research for my trip on the nightlife (so I'd know where to go or not go), and I thought it's pretty good info... (and it's a culmination of many, many different websites)... Clubs on the Strip: V Bar (@ the Venetian) - No cover - It's one of the newest clubs in Vegas, in one of the nicest hotels, so it attracts lots of celebrities. Inside, it's very pretty with simple Mod furniture and dim lighting. The music is mostly jazz and "quiet" techno. Drink prices average at about $10 (Martinis are $14) and the bartenders come up with new drinks every single week so be sure to ask what the latest concoction is....Read More
