Bazaar

Attraction

Quote:
The bazaar in Edirne is not like other bazaars in Turkey. It's more European. It is no wonder, since Edirne is the biggest city in the European part of Turkey. The bazaar in Edirne is comprised of a few streets and buildings with roofs where people sell their goods. It is a good place for having your first kebab in Turkey.

There's also a bazaar with candies, cakes and other sweets and confectioneries under the Selimiye Camii (Selimiye mosque) which is well worth a visit. You can find there famous Turkish honey and other strange but tasty things.

But to me Selimiye was more beautiful. Second there's quite a funny story about its windows. The myth is that it has exactly 999 windows because of sultan's command. The architect wanted to build exactly 1000 windows on the mosque, but after saying this to the sultan he said that it is not possible. 1000 win...Read More

In Selimiye Camii you can meet authentic muezzins singing their prayers. Everyone who knows how
these guys sing has to say that they are pretty good at it. They are able to hold one tone
for about three minutes and some of them say maybe longer. We met one who sang in that way in
Selimiye Camii in Edirne. And it was great. I recommend it to you...
