Overview

Wineglass Bay - Hazards Beach track.

Quick Tips:

Try to do the walk in the rain, it's so much more beautiful in these conditions, although not as comfortable. Make sure you grab a drink at Freycinet Lodge on your return! (dress code applies)

Best Way To Get Around:

Buses run to Coles Bay, although, like most of rural Tasmania, a car is the best and by far easiest option.
Iluka Holiday Centre
Another YHA. This time the YHA was fully booked (no surprise in a place like Coles Bay), so we were given a cabin! A 3 room cabin, with a double bed, and 2 rooms with bunk beds, tv/lounge room (complete with tv), kitchen and bathroom. Great owners, everything is clean and organised. If you stay here and want a cabin, ask for number 17!

Attraction | "Coles Bay Adventure Centre - 4WD Biking"

Coles Bay Adventure Centre runs 4WD tours of bushland around the area. Although you need a drivers license, minimum of a Provisional License as you will be using public roads, it's great fun!! No experience necessary, as the guy who runs them gives you plenty of time to practice and to get the hang of the bikes. Cost's $55 for a 1 hour ride and $80 for a 2 and a half hour ride.

Freycinet Peninsular
The first part of the walk is a half hour climb up over the Hazards (mountains on the Freycinet Peninsular). Once at the saddle, there is a viewing platform, looking out over Wineglass Bay, and further onto Hazards Beach. The walk down the side of the Hazards brings you out onto Wineglass Bay beach. There is a camping site further along the beach. Continuing around the track to Hazards Beach, goes through undergrowth and scrub. Once onto Hazards Beach, there are beautiful views to either direction. Once you get back to the car park where the walk starts, I suggest you head to Freycinet Lodge to get a stiff drink and a sit down for awhile!
