The Essential City Tour is a great way to get an overview of the city, and plan what you want to do next. We also enjoyed gambling in Harrah's. The Mardi Gras parades were also fun, and gave us an opportunity to see some New Orleans culture. We learned 3 days is not enough time to do everything.

Best Way To Get Around:

After taking a taxi from the airport to our hotel in the French Quarter, we walked everywhere. I certainly wouldn't try to drive here!

This is a very old, quaint, charming hotel. We shared a small terrace with 2 other rooms, and only saw 1 other person while out there. It was quiet, comfortable, and safe. We felt secluded, even though we were centrally located in the French Quarter. The entire staff was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay there again.

This is a wonderful Creole restaurant, with a third generation Olivier in the kitchen. The Eggplant Olivier appetizer was my favorite. The bread and homemade salad dressings were also good. Our server, Ashley, was great, too. I made sure to comment to the hostess about him when I left.

Essential City Tour

This is a great overview of the city. It is a 2 hour bus tour with 2 stops, one at cemetary, and one at park concession. It ran longer than the 2 hours because of dropping people off at hotels, and letting traffic pass the bus when it backed up. Our guide, Sid, was a native of New Orleans, and was very informative and nice. He was glad to give restaurant recommendations, and additional local information.

A casino just like the ones in Las Vegas! Nice people at the slot club sign-up counter. I lost money, but it sounded like others were winning. A friend won $100.00 on a $1.00 slot machine after playing less than ten dollars.
