Phnom Penh's Silver Pagoda, located right next to the Presidential Palace, is a beautiful and peaceful escape from the noisy streets of the city. It's name derives from the silver tiles which completely layer the floor. Inside houses many beautiful gifts from various royal families and dignitaries - including lots of buddha statues made of gold, silver, jade, diamonds and the like. The collection was immense considering what survived during the Khmer rule. But for me, the grounds were the highlight -- various stupas, trees, and flowering plants makes a trip there feel like a getaway. For true peacefulness, visit the Silver Pagoda in the early morning, before the crowds invade.
