The once little town of Murfreesboro has grown to population to approximately 50,000 residents, not even counting the 12,000 or so students at Middle Tennessee University. This Mayberry-like area is lovingly called "The Boro" my locals. The old-timey town square contains lots of interesting little shops and restaurants. The Civil War Battle of of Stones River was fought here. The National Park Service battlefield is a must to visit. Let's not forgot to visit Cannonsburg, a restored village with church, country store, etc. There is even the world's largest cedar bucket on display!
