Israeli Paradise

An April 2000 trip to Eilat by Breathmints

Eilt is an absolute paradise. In Southern Israel, eilat has no and probably will not suffer a terrorist attack. With snorkeling, underwater observatories and glass bottom boats that are enhanced to go underwater like a sumbwarine with a lower compartment, eilayt is a commercial paradise-The Las Vegas of Israel.

Overview

Go snorkeling, on underwater boats, the yellow sumbwarine if your really touristy, and the underwater observatory. There are many entertainment activities there as well. And some of the best hotels in the Middle East to say the least. The Herods, the Dan, and the princess are fantastic hotels, followed by the royal beach.

Quick Tips:

Nice mall near the airport.

Best Way To Get Around:

You don't need a car - everything's packed together.
If your in Eilat, which you should be, take a day trip to the Negev or to Yotvata. Yotvata is a kibbutz exporting, distributing, mastering, and supplying dairy products mainly to Israel, and perhaps to countries closer to Isrtael such as Greece. The Negev is a beautiful desert with excavations and a differnt people - Nomads.

Story/Tip

In Eilat, along the coastline, there is about maybe a mile or two with just high class hotels like the Dan and Sheraton and Hilton, and this strip has great steak, Chinese, pizzerias, and Italian restaurants as well as a small theme park if the kids get bored. This strip is where most people stay, and outside of the strip of great hotels on the coast of the red sea, there aren't much great accommodations except for the Princess which is on the Egyptian border, as opposed to the Jordanian one. For low-budget travelers, there are tent camps and hostels which aren't too bad. Overall, this strip is the center of touristic action in Eilat. Right next to the beach and great commercial establishments, visit it if you're staying there or not.
