Trigrad is a place in the rodopt mountains It is located on a mountainsite. The nature is very beautifull. To reach Trigrad you have to go through a valley with some steep walls around. A must see is to explore the caves in the neighbourhood.

Around Trigrad
Highlights of the area of Trigrad and around are the several gorges wich can be visited. But not to forget the rodphte itself. The area has some extreme beautifull nature.

Quick Tips:

Not all caves are open for public, but there are guides to be found who can to show you around. Ask around at the different gorges which are open to the public. Trigrad Gorge is probably the best place to ask.

Best Way To Get Around:

There is one bus going from Devin to Trigrad. But it never hurts to ask around for mini bus (parking place near the bus station). This could be the better way to reach the town. In Trigrad itself, ask the locals to find a place to stay. We stayed there in a private house. Without a Bulgarian speaking person, it can be very difficult to get around.

WaterFall
Trigrad Groge is one of the several beautiful caves in the Trigrad area. Although it is one of the easiest to reach, since it is situated next to the major road from Devin -> Trigrad. The way to go is relatively short, but the height difference is huge. This can be felt the most when you get to the last hall before you climb up out the cave again (stairs). It is also the most beautiful part of the gorge. There is a spectacular sight on the 45m waterfall which is in the cave. I tried to capture it in the picture but it is difficult to see how beautifull it actually was.

Yagodina cave
Yagodina Gorge is one of the caves open for the public. A "must see" is the best phrase to describe it. Just watch the pictures. To get there is another story, without transport it can be a hazardous way, even more so when you cannot speak bulgarian to ask the way from the one or two people you meet on the way. It is possible to hike there from Trigrad. It's a good hike through the forrest/hills. But there are not that many good signs. We could not find the way :) because we were not that well prepared, but we were lucky to catch a car on the way. It was an experiance not to miss.
