Overview

There are lots of things to see and do in this region. Start with a trip to the Victorian Alps, only 1.5 hours away. You can enjoy skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer.

The local wineries are only a half-hour away, where you can taste some of the best wines from Australia. Get a bottle of your favourite wine and have a picnic lunch down by the Murray River.

Lake Hume is very close; there is the Lake Hume Resort as well as all the water sports that you may ever want to try, such as water skiing, sailing, jet skiing, or just plain sunbaking and swimming. There is also the PS Cumberoona, the paddle steamer, where visitors can take a trip on the river and the world-famous Ettamogah Pub, which has to be seen to be believed. Albury has all the usual facilities of a city without the hustle and bustle, including great wining and dining, shopping, an internet café called Cyber Heaven, banks, and a post office, as well as a beautiful Botanic Garden and Monument. The surrounding areas offer a wealth of history from places like Beechworth (Gold Mining) and Yackandandah (Paul Hogan's film, Strange Bedfellows, was filmed here).

Quick Tips:

Bring warm clothes for the winter months, June to September, and cool clothes for the summer months, December to March. Bring lots of film for photographs - it's a photographer's dream.

Best Way To Get Around:

A car is the best way to get around, but there are extensive bike tracks around the city, as well as a good bus system on weekdays.

Restaurant

For the one low price of around $US20, you can order food as well as help yourself to the smorgasbord as many times as you like. It has a variety of food from steaks, seafood, pasta, roasts, soups, salads, and the yummiest desserts, all of high quality.

A great play area for Children 0 to 12 years. There are separate areas for each age group in a safe environment. Ball pits, climbing equipment, and slides as well as a Jumping Castle. Parents can get a hot/cold drink and chat with their friends while the kids are playing. Meals are also available and the facility welcomes nursing mothers.

It's a friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere that also caters for children's parties.
