We went to Jimmy john's for lunch one day on our recent visit to Atlanta. Before arriving I had never heard of the chain but it is similar to Subway or Mr Sub; it is basically a sandwich shop but with a little bit of a twist in that the sandwiches are all ready made rather than you choosing your own ingredients like you do in the others. We only wanted a light lunch, so we opted to share a meal deal which includes a sub sandwich, a cookie or some crisps and a fountain drink. This cost us about $9 and was more than enough for a heftier than we'd planned lunch for both of us. The restaurant is pretty small and there are a few tables inside but to be honest I'd much prefer to take ...Read More

One of the things you should absolutely do when you are in Atlanta is visit the Martin Luther King Jr National Historic Site. The man himself spent much of his life in Atlanta which was actually his birthplace and where he followed in his father's footsteps by becoming preacher at the Ebeneezer church. The complex includes lots of interesting areas and the whole thing comprises to give you a good insight into the man behind the legend. I have to admit that I knew shamefully little about Martin Luther King Jr before I visited, but I found everything about the site fascinating and well presented. I didn't think it was too over bearing especially for a novice like myself.I particul...Read More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights at the start of our recent road trip around The Deep South and we had a very pleasant stay. The hotel wasn't perfect, but there are lots of things about it that were so good that I have no hesitation in recommending it.**The Good**The best thing about the hotel is the location because it is perfectly situated between the downtown and midtown areas which mean that it is in walking distance of all the main attractions that Atlanta has to offer. It took us about 20 minutes to walk to the aquarium, The World of Coca Cola and the CNN exhibits in one direction and about fifteen minutes to walk to the middle of Peachtree Street in the other direc...Read More

The Olympic Park, as you might have guessed by the name, is the legacy left by the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta Georgia and is a lovely place to go and relax in the middle of the city. If you are visiting any of the city's main attractions, such as the Aquarium, The World of Coca Cola and the CCN Centre, you'll not miss the park because it is right there in the thick of the action, offering a bit of calm in amongst the artificial lights and queues that come with the other sights. We spent a lot of time in the park, either walking through it or sitting and eating lunch, and it is a perfect place to do both on a lovely day. There are lots of little different areas within the park and most of...Read More

Restaurant | "Rocking at Hard Rock"

I'm not a massive fan of Hard Rock Cafe in general, but it does fit the bill sometimes. One of these times was on our recent visit to Atlanta, Georgia. We'd done a long haul flight to get there and were starving and in need of something plain, simple and quick so we ended up here. The restaurant is like all Hard Rock Cafes; loud and in your face. The walls, floors and ceilings are absolutely covered in rock memorabilia. The crowning glory of the one is Elvis' gold plated motorcycle which is on proud display just inside the doorway. There are plenty of other things to look at during your meal, some more exciting than others, but all of them well displayed. The service was good; fr...Read More
