We had long been curious about Madame Tussauds in London but never got around to visiting. My husband had been there many years ago when he was a child, but I had never been, so we were quite excited about going. On researching more information about the attraction prior to our trip, I was amazed at the ticket prices - £30.00 for adults and £28.50 for children - mighty expensive! There are slight reductions if you buy the tickets on-line and in advance, so look out for these. We have annual Merlin passes - 1 year's entry to all the Merlin attractions in the UK - ranging from theme parks, to the London Eye to this place, so paid nothing extra.Madame Tussauds is open between 9am and 7pm....Read More

I was highly impressed with the Science Museum in London - I knew already from research that this was one of London's best loved family attractions and is the most popular cultural destination for British school groups (it beats all the other museums), but was really surprised by how much I actually enjoyed our day out here.We came a year ago to the Natural History Museum, so the Science Museum, being right next door, was an obvious "next on the list" day out. The closest tube stop is South Kensington. The museum opens every day between 10 and 6. We arrived at 9.45, there was quite a long queue all the way down the street, but when the doors opened, it moved really fast. Entrance is fr...Read More

The London Aquarium entrance was included in our annual Merlin holder passes, so for that reason we decided to visit. It is very easy to find - it is inside the old County Hall building right next to the London Eye. While walking down the Southbank earlier during our London trip, we saw lines of people waiting to go into the aquarium, so decided to visit first thing, when it opened and aim to beat the crowds. The aquarium is open daily between 10am and 6pm with later opening times during school holidays. We arrived just when it opened and were shocked to find no queues at all. We walked straight inside and virtually had the whole place to ourselves. They warned us before we w...Read More

We booked this dinner experience before we left home as we thought it would be fun for us but also a fun treat for our 9 year old. You can book in advance through their website - I found a special offer on Thursdays for families. The normal price is £50.00 for adults and £30.00 for children - however if you book the family ticket on Thursday it costs £110 in total (this is for 2 adults and 2 children). The banquet takes place every evening at 7.45 and I think there is an afternoon option at the weekend. The nearest tube station is Tower Bridge and the banquet venue is not too difficult to find from there. It is only about a 5-10 minute walk. We were really pleasantly surprised by the ...Read More

Attraction | "The London Eye By Night"

This was my third time riding the London Eye, but by far the best and most memorable experience. The reason for this? We had our "flight" at night-time. This made everything about the whole experience better in my opinion - the sights, sounds, atmosphere and best of all, lack of crowds.I had never previously considered a night ride on the Eye - it is open every day between 10am and 9pm. We decided to jump on-board after dinner at a restaurant close by. We were also staying in a hotel in this area, so had this flexibility. The cost is £18 for adults and £9.50 for children - the London Eye is part of the Merlin card - we bought this annual pass for various UK attractions, so ...Read More
