After a day's hike we decided to have a relax with a cocktail or two with a view over the sea. On one of the main drags we found a parade of bars, and luckily enough for us the one which overlooked the sea looked the nicest, the Cafe Bamboo bar near the Plaza de los Cangrejos to the left of the central Balcon in Nerja town centre.Thankfully the place was decked out in its winter finery and the outdoor space was shielded from the slightly cold breeze by a semi permanent conservatory. It was so solid with proper double glazing that it didn't rattle or flap about in the breeze like so many of these temporary awnings do. We were also happy to see lit gas patio heaters in the outsid...Read More

Restaurant | "Bollywood Bombay - Good Main Curry Dishes in Nerja"

For one of our evening meals in Nerja we fancied something a little more substantial than Tapas and in time honoured position we decided to explore the local Indian Restaurant. The Bollywood Bombay isn't particularly stunning looking from the outside, but our friends who have moved to Nerja assured us that it was a reasonable place to dine so we entered. Our server was a very shy but polite and efficient woman wearing a sari. The restaurant was very quiet so we had a full choice of tables in this rather spartan and Spanish style but very clean restaurant. Service was quick.I assume the Bollywood Bombay is a Hindu style curry house as I spotted an image of the blue el...Read More

Attraction | "Gotta love the donkeys at Nerja Donkey Sanctuary"

One of the more unusual but pleasant activities to do in Nerja is to visit the local donkey sanctuary. The sanctuary is currently located on the edge of town and as it is run purely by donation they would welcome you coming along to make a small donation and to say hello to the animals in their care. We paid a few Euros for some food to take into the animals and spent a happy 30 minutes wandering around giving them healthy treats of carrots and the like. You can pet most of the animals and there is rudimentary washing facilities to clean your hands before you leave and hunt down an ice cream back in the town centre. Some of the animals are in solitary confinement because they ar...Read More

Nerja Frigiliana hike Photo, Nerja, Spain

We always love to stretch our legs where we can as it helps us both keep fit and active and allows us to see more of the world and ponder what we are seeing. During our flying visit to Nerja, our friends suggested a straight forward ramble from the town centre over to the close but quite different looking hillside town of Frigiliana about 4 miles inland. The route took us along a pretty riverbed, although the first parts of the river walk were a little litter strewn with the standard set of Spanish stray dogs wandering past. The walking was easy with just a gentle slope inland (apart from a steep haul at the end of our walk into the town itself). The only slight distraction was...Read More
