Restaurant | "Typical TGI's!"

We went to TGI Friday's in the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai because we'd had a massively long day travelling and wanted something plain and simple to eat before hitting the hay. I am usually a big believer in eating like the locals, but on this occasion we wanted something familiar and this fit the bill nicely because it was close to where we were staying and there were tables available. The restaurant is located at the far end of the Mall of the Emirates on the second floor, right next to Ski Dubai, the indoor ski slope. This is actually really good because the restaurant has a massive window that looks right into Ski Dubai, so you can do some quality people watching whilst you are eating...Read More

Dubai For Free

Story/Tip

Dancing Water at Dubai Fountain Photo, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

There are no two ways about it, Dubai is an expensive place to visit and an even more expensive place to pass the time. Possibly this is because they have to recoup some losses from the massive amount of brand new construction they have created, or possibly it's to keep up appearances as being a sort of exclusive place to visit. I don't know why it is, but it is. All is not lost though, because there are some things you can do for free, or almost free, and they are pretty good things too.**The Fountains**Burj Khalifa is Dubai's main tourist attraction and it is the tallest tower in the world, but it definitely isn't free to visit. What is free is the spectacular Dubai Fountain ...Read More

Burj Khalifa needs no other introduction than that it is the tallest building in the world. And by quite some considerable margin. It is located in Dubai in the Downtown area and offers unrivalled views over the city and the desert beyond. If you are in Dubai, you have to visit!===A Little Background Information===The Burj Khalifa was built between 2004 and 2009 and is the tallest man made structure in the world at a whopping 829.8 metres tall. It was originally called Burj Dubai, but when the Dubai powers that be ran out of money for it's completion, they had to borrow money from neighbouring Abu Dhabi. It is thought that they changed the name to honour the UAE President Khali...Read More

Sheraton Dubai Mall of the Emirates

Hotel | "Other Facilities, Restaurant and Price"

Quote:
===Other Facilities===There is a restaurant on the reception floor where they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had breakfast included and it was pretty good. The choice was extensive and included healthy options as well as western and eastern food. There were lots of fresh cooking stations were you could get eggs and pancakes made to order. We loved the little ready made smoothies that you could help yourself to from the fridges. We also had dinner once in the restaurant, but I wouldn't recommend it because it was ridiculously overpriced and the food was overcooked. We ended up paying £140 for three courses and a glass of wine for two of us and, even though things aren't c...Read More

Hotel | "The Location and Rooms"

Quote:
My opinion of this hotel is somewhat mixed; we had a bit of a frustrating stay here to be honest. The hotel, when we booked it, was a Pullman Hotel, but changed on the day that we arrived to Sheraton. Despite the fact that we were assured pre stay that we would experience no upheaval, it wasn't to be the case. There was nothing major, but enough little things to make us annoyed with our stay overall.===Location===The location of the hotel was one of the main things that made us choose this hotel and, despite our less than perfect stay, I still have to say that the location is perfect for the tourist. It is located on Sheikh Zayed Road, which is sort of like the spine of Dubai a...Read More

Attraction | "Go Wild Wadi in Dubai!"

Wild Wadi Waterpark Photo, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Quote:
Wild Wadi is a themed water park on Jumeirah Beach in Dubai. We had a day there on our recent trip and enjoyed it more than we thought we would and I'd recommend a visit if you are in the area. It is competing against the more famous Atlantis Water Park on The Palm, but when you compare prices and value for money, Wild Wadi is probably better. My hard to please niece and nephew have been to both and said that Wild Wadi is far superior - so there you go!===Location and Getting There===Getting there is fairly easy. It is located right next to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel (sometimes called The Wave) and if you are staying at this hotel, you can get direct access from the grounds (and ...Read More
