Wyndham Smoky Mountain

Hotel | "Permon"

Quote:
Rooms are nice and clean. The hotel has many facilities, from restaurants and bars to a swimming pool on the third floor, a hairdresser and a few shops. It's quite an expensive hotel for Slovakia, but it is placed in the woods and therefore it has quite an atmosphere.

This is quite a popular camp placed in the village under the High Tatras. It has all necessary facilities like WC, shower, shop and it's guarded. Price is about 3 USD per night so it's quite reasonable. Many travellers who are staying in the High Tatras use this campsite because it has good access to the railway to Strbske Pleso, the centre of High Tatras.

Small hotel in the centre of Novy Smokovec. It is good option when you want to stay in High Tatras for a few days and you are on a low budget. Rooms are clean, and good, but in the winter it can be quite cold there.

Halusky

Restaurant

Quote:
Halusky isn't a restaurant nor it is an place. Halusky is the Slovak national meal. It's something like dumplings made of potatoes with fresh Slovak sheep cheese called bryndza. Historically it was a meal of poor people. Today it is the national meal. It is usually served with acid milk and hot bacon pieces. It's really delicate.

Krivan Mountain

Attraction | "Krivan"

Quote:
Krivan is the most famous mountain in Slovakia. It's one of symbols of this country, it is even drawn on one coin! Slovaks are very proud about this mountain and hiking to the top of it is an activity that many Slovaks do during the summer. There is also a national walk to the top of the Krivan every year in the August. It's interesting because it's not narrow. It has quite a crooked top. If you are hiking in the High Tatras on the Slovak side you cannot omit this mountain.

Gerlachovsky Stit (Gerlach Peak)

Attraction | "Gerlachovsky stit"

Quote:
This is the highest peak in the High Tatras and also the highest peak in Slovakia. If you want to reach the top of this mountain, you'll need to contact a mountain guide. This route is only for expert hikers! It's not too hard, still it is not allowed to hike there on your own, because it's dangerous.
