Going out on the town in Chicago can be difficult since there are tons of options for entertainment. I went for cheap and fun and we all had a blast.

Brew and View at the Vic Theater -- It costs you to get into this old theater that shows 2-3 2nd run movies a night. However, there are four full-service bars in the theatre with drink specials nightly and you can smoke and eat while you're there! Around the corner on Belmont and Clark is a plethora of cheap but tasty dining options. I suggest Philly's Best, for a great cheese-steak sandwich that will rock your world.

Quick Tips:

The Brew and View is located very close to Wrigley Field (it's about 8 blocks due south of the Cubs). There is a wealth of alternative clothing stores and a dance club (Berlin) nearby. If you're open-minded about gay/lesbian clubs, Berlin is certainly a friendly joint. There are many other bars and pubs withing walking distance of the Brew and View, and it should be noted that bartime in Chicago goes to 5am on Saturdays.

Best Way To Get Around:

Definitely, the best way to this night out is on the Red Line or the Brown Line on the "L" train -- for .50, you can get off at the Belmont stop, and you're practically there. After a night of debauchery, though, take a cab. You can get to almost anywhere you're staying for about or less, and you don't have to wait for the "L."

Brew and View (at the Vic)

Remember the social feeling you had when you saw Rocky Horror Picture Show? Imagine better movies, less throwing of food and water, and you can drink and smoke while you're watching the film. Action films are best viewed here in the company of friends. As the night wears on and the liquor takes a more profound effect, you will likely join other participants in this theater in interacting with whatever is going on, on-screen. This is my favorite spot, bar-none, in Chicago.
