While in Weymouth, if you're looking for a gift with a difference then head no further than a gorgeous little shop in the Brewers Quay area called the Wooden Heart Co. I was pottering about while waiting for my partner to eat his breakfast (I'm not a morning person and the smell of bacon fat was making me feel decidedly sick) when I noticed this shop, and immediately went in to have a mooch. The Wooden Heart Co. sells a range of hand crafted goods as well as supplies for all you crafters out there, having no crafter talent whatsoever I was looking at the ready made stuff. And there's lots of it. The first thing I saw as I entered the shop was a lady behind the counter making ti...Read More

If you're ever in Weymouth and fancy fish and chips then head to Fish 'n' Fritz on Market Street. You can take your meal away in cardboard boxes or sit in their large non smoking restaurant area, as this chippy is located a short walk away from the Old Harbour I took mine outside to eat on the harbour wall watching the boats go past. The restaurant is scrupulously clean with traditional wooden tables and chairs on a smartly tiled floor. It's airy and light, pastel décor mixed nicely with wooden furniture and fittings gives the restaurant a very relaxing and quaint atmosphere. If you're eating inside you order from your table and your meals are brought to you on a 'proper' plate with cutler...Read More

Attraction | "For Beach Bums, Sun Worshippers and Everyone Else!"

After spending a few idyllic days in Weymouth, I realised how special the beach is. I’m not a sun worshipper, preferring to spend my holidays actually doing something rather than lying on a towel with sand getting in all… well, everywhere. Weymouth Beach caters for everyone; beach bums who want a game of Frisbee, kids wanting to build sandcastles, more active beachgoers. The beach is fantastic for those long morning walks; one end is made up of large pebbles but the further you walk, it’ll gradually turn from pebbles to gravel and finally to a beautifully textured sand. It’s definitely interesting, and for such a short distance it makes me wonder how the sea manages to keep dropping the pe...Read More

Attraction | "Harbouring A Desire For Jewellery"

While mooching around the Old Harbour area of Weymouth I spotted a striking yellow shop which immediately had me enthralled. The Harbour Times, as I discovered, is a jewellers much in the same vein as HSamuels although cheaper. It's a very small shop from the outside, tucked in between two large buildings and if it wasn't for the canary inspired colour of the outside I think I would have missed it completely. A select few pieces are displayed in the window but this area isn't crowded at all despite the display window being relatively small, Harbour Times have created a very pretty display of their favourite items and it's a lovely mixture of jewellery, silver trinkets and watch...Read More

If you go to Weymouth for a holiday or short break, make your first stop the Weymouth Tourist Information Centre which is conveniently located on The Esplanade right next to their wonderful beach. We found it quite by chance while looking for somewhere my Uncle could hire out a mobility scooter, although it's adequately signposted from all directions I hadn't noticed any of the posters or information flyers so only knew it was there when a Weymouth resident suggested they may have the information we were looking for. The centre itself is a stand alone glass building, similar in size to a large Portacabin, which is very spacious and uncluttered inside. It's split up into two sections;...Read More
