We recently spent two nights at Hotel Kasteel Terworm near Heerlen. For the birthday of my partner I wanted to do something special and since we are both very fond of castles, I was looking for a castle where we could spend the night. Through the internet I found Castle Terworm in Heerlen.HistoryTerworm castle dates from the 14th century. In both the 15th, 16th and the 17th century, it extended. Thus comes the entrance to the moat in 1670. Since its construction in the 14th century noble families have lived here. One of the first restoration took place in the 18th century. Around the same time, the garden was laid out in French rococo style. From 1917 to 1988, the Oranje Nassau...Read More

Close to the motorway, the A76 is where the Bastion Hotel Heerlen lies. At exit 6 off of the highway you go. You will see high in the air the advertisement billboard of Bastion. The address is In de Cramer 199, Heerlen. Across the street is the collection center from Ikea. They give on their website that they are close to DSM. The hotel is located far away from the center of Heerlen. Then you really need a car. Nearby are some beautiful walks through the Limburg hills.ArrivalThe hotel is a large parking for hotel guests. On the back is a shed where a number of toilets are. Not exactly the most beautiful view. You go up some stairs. For wheelchair users, there is a wheelcha...Read More

Years ago I once visited Brunssummerheide. And one of these days I've been back again. And now with a particular purpose. Explorion I wanted to visit. Because I had someone with me who is interested in the planetary system. ExplorionAt the Sheep Kooiweg 95 in Heerlen lies Explorion. It is open from Wednesday to Friday and Sunday from 13.00 to 17.00 hours. The navigation system brings you into a suburb of Heerlen (between Brunssum and Heerlerheide) to a very narrow street off the main road. Along the way you see all directions in order to come to Explorion. You drive the lane on the first and you come to a large car park (free). Then you walk over a trail. It is the beginning of...Read More

We had a meeting at the Grand hotel in Heerlen. It is one of the Amrath hotel group. This is a chain of hotels owned by the family of Eijl. This told the hotel manager. He was proud that he could run this independent hotel. "That's the beauty in my field, he told me, despite the fact that we are a hotel chain, I can still have my own ideas. I always like that, that people tell you all this unasked. That gives you a bit how proud they are on their doing.I have already been at several Amrath Hotels. Typically I think you have a total concept of meeting facilities and sleeping facilities. Usually they are the four-star hotels.PriceEverything was arranged for this meeti...Read More

When you tell a foreigner about the dutch islands he probably has no idea what you are talking about. The dutch islands aren’t really famous but everybody in the Netherlands will know what you are talking about. The Dutch islands are located in the north of the Neterlands and mostly only half an hour away from the main land with boat. Most of the islands it isn’t allowed to drive with car and so you are depending to take the bike.We love to go to the Dutch islands and especially the island of Texel. It’s a small island were you can bike and it would take you only two hours to see the entire island. It has beautiful beaches and lots of holiday houses and restaurants. It’s really a place wer...Read More
