Vancouver Island

Story/Tip

Quote:
Well the last time we were in Vancouver. Here we have brought about two days, with the city stroll, go to the playgrounds and walking in Stanley Park. After we left Vancouver to Vancouver Island. Because today we usually do not know where we are tomorrow we did not have space reserved on the ferry for the crossing from Mainland to Vancouver Island and the day before departure, but suddenly we started to think, what if the boat is now full. So left extra early, if not for one boat, we could perhaps take the next. You guessed it fixed already. At half past eight we arrived at the ferry and at nine o'clock we were already on, no queues whatsoever. After two hours sailing we arrived on Vancouver Island. A...Read More

Since we began our trip to Canada in beautiful Vancouver, we also wanted to see as much of this great city. So we made a trip to the Granville Island.Granville Island is an artificial peninsula at False Creek in Vancouver. It used to be an industrial area that was empty until the 1970s. The area was redeveloped opening in 1979 the Public Market, a large food market. Apart from this huge market, the main attraction is without a doubt, numerous outdoor terraces overlooking the False Creek as well as cafes and shops. Granville Island on weekends can record up to 40,000 visitors who throng to the more than 100 stalls and shops, sit outside on the terrace or watch the many street artists. The g...Read More

After our trip to Fort Langley, it was on the third day of our trip to Canada in the direction of Penticton, where our hotel was next. About halfway between Vancouver and Penticton, we reached the Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park. In addition to the 43 Canadian national parks for which an admission is obtained, in Canada there are also numerous smaller and larger provincial parks, the so-called Provincial Park, you can visit without paying for it. Some of these parks are really small, others have been almost the size of national parks and amenities. In Canada, we see signs every few miles to the nearest Provincial Park, no wonder because in the province of British Columbia alone there are...Read More

On the eighth day of our trip to Canada, we crossed the entire Banff National Park and half of the Jasper National Park to reach our destination for Jasper. From here you can easily visit many places because of it’s central location. We went to the Athabasca Falls. The Athabasca Falls are 23 meter high waterfalls of the Athabasca River. For Canadian relations is a waterfall of 23 meters, nothing special, because there are water falls that fall farther into the depths. The special feature of the Athabasca Falls is the tremendous force with which the water plunges down through a narrow gap in another narrow gorge. Over time, the river has dug through a layer of hard quartzite and limestone. A...Read More

When we stayed in Toronto for a couple of these we had to eat ofcourse and although we could stay at the hotel and eat, we decided to go out every night for dinner. It’s just fun to explore the city this way and you really experience the culture and how the people in the city life. Canada did remind me of America with the big chain restaurant but luckily there are also many smaller restaurants to be found. We found this restaurant while just wondering around exploring the area around the hotel. It also had a little bit to do with the fact that we got lost but great timing because we did discover this restaurant. The outside was quiet appealing with the bright warm colours and a few outdoor ...Read More
