Dortmund is a city full of life and the people are colourfull and full with passion. The little shops in the side streets are amazing and so are the restaurants in this town. We often go to Dortmunt because it’s not far from were we live and every time it amazes us. This time we went with friends who took us to this restaurant where they have been before.

The restaurant itself is located in a side street and there in a red brick building in the row of houses. It has a large window and some windows, which go out to the street. Above the entrance hangs a white sign with red letters, on which one can find the Kabuki lettering and learns that it is a restaurant. As soon as you come in the door, you see the treadmill, "embedded" in a kind of roundabout and covered with a roof, which extends longitudinally through the elongated space. Therefore, the tables are set up. There are about 8 tables (each with 2 or 4 chairs) right on the tape and each table has a small window towards the band, which you can defer.

Going all the way through to the end of the room, you pass at the right kitchen. If you go down the stairs here, one comes to the toilets. The restaurant is decorated with beautiful paintings and artistic fields on the walls, so that one feels really comfortable here. It is reminiscent of Japan and has always struck me as a good idea. The tables and chairs fit together and they are comfortable.

In this restaurant you can mostly eat Sushi but there are different variations, but there are also other foods. Thus, there are also pasta, salads, fried crab meat, spicy chicken skewers, other chicken parts, spring rolls, mussels (the dinner buffet), tapioca pudding, this crab chips or deep fried shrimp. Of course there is then even something like wasabi, baked bananas and seaweed salads. The choice is that it is actually a sushi bar is great in any case. I especially always taste the kebabs or chicken pieces, as they are super flavorful. Moreover, they are not in too large portions, so that one of them is not right enough. Furthermore me the mussels and the fried shrimp and sea sticks taste very good. However, one has to say that fried food always fills you up quickly. Where tapioca pudding is a mixture of coconut and green tea, and of course the typical tapioca beads. Without eating such a pudding, we have left the Kabuki never - he is just too delicious.

It’s a wonderful little restaurant with outstanding food and something i can recommend to anyone.

At the end of May 2011 we went to Dortmund and we had perfect weather. The goal was actually to visit a restaurant in the evening, but we decided to also spent the afternoon at the Westfalen Park and drove to the Florianturm, the television tower in the city of Dortmund.

The tower is easy to reach. By car coming over the B54 following the signs to car parks which you have to pay and are around the park. When there are events in the Westfalenhallen it can be difficult to find a place but when we went we had no problems.

The park entry fee: Adults 3 € per person to pay but from 18 h you only pay € 1.50. Sometimes there are discounts tickets available which you can ask at the counter! Unfortunately when we were there we had no such luck.

The tower was built on the occasion of the National Garden Festival in 1959, so the tower is relatively new. It was 219, 6 m high when it was built but now it’s only 208,56 metres and serves as a lookout but also as a television tower. It’s operated and owned by the German Radio GmBH which is a subsidiary of the Deutsche Telekom. The tower was built of steel and concrete and has been restored twice in 1996 and 1998. At around 140 metres there are two viewing platforms which gives visitors a view over the city of Dortmund.

In the tower are still a few stations active as the media group RTL, ZDF and WDR and some more. There was a bungee platform in 2000 but due a fatal accident it was dismantled in 2009. All the way at the top you have a restaurant.

After a leisurely stroll through the park, we arrived at the tower. You pay and go up there. The trip is accompanied by a staff member and is not as quite as fast as we recently witnessed in Munich. The elevator is not really slow but we expected it to go a bit faster. It leads to the first platform and the second platform can be reached by stairs.

The view from the platform is great! You can see many attractions as the stadium, a mine and the Sauerland. What I only missed were a few signs telling you what everything was. On the platform it was quiet cold and windy, so you should really wear a jacket.

A brief experience, which is worth it. If you're in the park and have no height problems you should go up. Of course only in perfect weather you have clear visibility. Read Less

We have entered the address into our GPS and have the address found pretty much easy enough. However as the navigation system said we had reached our destination, I personally looked slightly taken aback from what we saw. We were standing outside a house which looked dark and closed. Luckily the hotel itself was a bit further and looked much better.

You can check in the whole night through but until a certain time at the counter, otherwise, electronically at an machine. Check-in was the easy and you get a number for our room. The room was on the second floor and unfortunately we discovered the hotel had no elevator. Luckily we didn’t have big suitcases but it’s annoying.

Mondays to Thursdays costs € 40 a night, during a night of Friday to Saturday cost 38 €, each additional person pays 10 €. The price is good especially for such a large city like Dortmund. You can get breakfast in the form of a buffet which costs 6 euro’s person. We haven’t done this because it seemed more fun to have breakfast in town. If you want dinner so also just have to go into town but there is enough to choose from.

The room can be opened with the pin number, which you get at check-in. Then the door opened and I was a little frightened. The room is quite small, you can only go by one after the other but not next to each other. The room has a double bed for 2 persons. Then there is even a TV in the room where you can comfortably watch from the bed. 2 steps away from the bed is a wash basin and shower. The bathroom is tiny, just as you can just rotate it. In addition, you can use in each room free WiFi. Had we known that we had brought our laptop.

The bed is quite spacious and we didn’t feel like sardines in a tin. The bedding itself felt fresh and nice and was perfectly white. The mattress felt a bit old and somewhat funny. Not pleasant but not unpleasant. The next morning I did wake up a bit funny and a little bit of pain in my back which luckily disappeared quickly enough.

You must have checked out to you at 12 noon, otherwise it assumes by default that one wants to spend another night there. When you enter the room, the window in the room is open. This makes the air in the room but wonderfully beautiful, but one is quickly forced to close the window, because at least our room window was directly out of the main road. If the window is closed, luckily we hear nothing more from the street noise.

On each floor, when you reach the floor, hangs on the wall of an escape plan, just in case a fire should break out in the hotel, as it is to see the location of the nearest fire extinguisher. I think that's great and stuff like that is simply a MUST.

I would go back down there when I need a cheap accommodation in Dortmund.
It's pretty much what the cheapest place you can find in Dortmund and the rooms are clean and smell fresh and pleasant.

Although the room was tiny, at the main road but even then the hotel has its advantages. As I said, it is advantageous to have a TV in the room and can use free wireless internet. Great hotel when on a budget! Read Less

I'm quite keen to experiment when it comes to food. So we sought a sushi restaurant. In Dortmund, there are at least three pure Japanese restaurants, the one we went to is the sushi bar in Fukuoka.

Sushi bar says the way in this particular case also quite small. In winter, there are probably 24 seats and three or four at the bar itself, in the "beer garden season," there are 18 inside, plus the aforementioned at the bar again and the same number outside. In summer the tables are placed inside a little less tight and with acceptable weather conditions is also a fully glazed front open.

The Fukuoka is as I said quite small, but cozy. In more or less classic Asian style plain, dark wood furniture that stand out either by convenience or the opposite, bright walls, a Buddha head * scratches head *, and occasionally a bit of a bamboo decoration. In the front part, directly at the window front row are the tables, behind a counter moves across the store, working behind the chefs. Can at this counter is a small refrigerated display case, thanks to which you can insure the freshness of the fish to be consumed visually.

Certain locations can be found on the floor below, are pretty mosaikgefliest and testified at the previous use of my hand, always meticulous cleanliness. The staff was so far consistently friendly, unobtrusive and competent.

Foodwise you have basically: lots of raw fish. With tuna, salmon and crab tails can not do much wrong anyway (unless they were not fresh). There are also sushi with eel, squid, egg, surimi (yes, the crab meat substitute), some vegetarian options, sea bream, mussels, mackerel, and so on. Although I strongly suspect that some of the more exotic types of fish are not always available, even if that never happened with us. The Fukuoka also offers various menus, such as B with a starter soup. The menus are there in several sizes, depending on your appetite.

Important I find also that there are several vegetarian sushi, but also one or two dishes cooked with chicken, soups and even among our own creations, sushi rolls with cooked chicken. I personally care less, although the extent, but if you take goes to someone who has never eaten sushi nboch and / or has reservations against raw fish, you can gently those first "introduced". Cost does the whole thing (sorry :-)) of course what.

For dessert, the Fukuoka offers exclusively (as far as I can remember grad) Ben & Jerry's to ... is delicious, but somehow not quite fit ...:-) Taste does it all really, really great, the rice sticks well and is eating (especially nigiri) apart, even if it is dipped in soy sauce, to say the fish "blub" can not be everything, and appropriately with wasabi is well seasoned but not too much so for those who can not tolerate that.

We have always had enough to eat are, in general, we always take one Sushimix 1 (the menu mentioned for 7 €) and four to Maki, ranging mostly, eventually making enough rice, and the protein-rich fish anyway. Cooked components I have not had, but so far I've heard anyone complain about it too.The chefs are always the way Japanese that German service personnel, so that communication problems occurred so far.
Delivery

As can be inferred from the number of seats, is the degree Fukuoka is maybe not suitable for the visit in large groups. Since then, there is the possibility to make either the food or have it ready to serve. It’s one I would go back to so five stars!

The building in which the Lotusblume is housed, was very impressive. This is a semi-circular building. The Lotusblume is placed on the upper floor, the bottom was another restaurant. Bright and friendly and inviting was the restaurant and I must say.

In front of the building are several parking spaces available. Nevertheless we had on Friday a bit difficult trying to find a parking space. It was quite usy but luckily we managed to find a space. Since there are two restaurants I can imagine it will be sometimes very busy especially in the weekends.

The entrance was decorated beautifully. Columns were displayed in the entrance area. Then inside next to the stairs there was a fish pond and a beautiful staircase up to the restaurant. Simply appealing and beautiful.

We had barely set foot in the restaurant, we were straight away welcomed as equal. Of course we had not reserved, as our visit to the restaurant was spontaneously. It was not so crowded and not really loud with music or people talking very loudly. It seemed like a peaceful restaurant.

The adjoining room was designed with everything covered in white, even white slipcovers on the chairs. White roses and white candles in the vases. Simple in style, so that you could absolutely feel comfortable here. Better it can not be. To the design of the room with the red floor, the walls pretty. Just great. Similarly, the area was great at the buffet. A long bar, where you could help yourself as you wanted. But more on that later. Definitely worth seeing.

After we have found our place, were also taken our drink orders immediately. There was the usual thing you could get in any good restaurant. We were well explained and easy on the Mongolian cuisine and also about the range of buffets. It was very kind to us and I can sing only praises the service completely.

We opted for the buffet. This included all the Chinese dishes that were offered in the buffet long mile. There were many delights here: Roast duck, roast pork, beef in various ways, fish, chicken and more ... Then, there was rice or fried noodles, various courts have done the same with vegetables and meat, soups and desserts to be. There were baked banana, pineapple and apple. Pour over the honey was ready.

Similarly, there was an ice bar, where you could help yourself. It was overwhelming and I'm determined not listed some of the delicacies that there was to eat there. On the other side were the ingredients for the Mongolian courts. These were crude and were then specially prepared for oneself open to a kitchen. You could choose here between deer, kangaroo, ostrich, beef, chicken skewer, fish and vegetables in different varieties. Had they chosen their favorite dishes, they gave it to a plate and handed it off during the cooking, then it has prepared fresh for you. It could take as much meat as you wanted, then combine it with vegetables and season to taste with spices. If one were not vegetables, they could operate only at the different types of meat and meat you wanted, you could eat the vegetables fill.
In this series there was then even sushi if you would deliberate and desserts. You could put together here from various exotic fruit its fruit salad. Similarly there was a kind of jello for dessert, which gave it a try in the interesting variety Cocos addition to the traditional red and green. Custard there was to it.

First, we have dealt with the Mongolian cuisine. For this, I then took a plate from the buffet and him with meats (chicken skewers and beef steak) fitted, which pleased me best. For this, I then selected fungi and this then made the cook. So that the cook knows, this Court should be for whom, I have attached a small peg on the plate. There stood my table number on it and so then my final meal came to my table by operator. It's simple and fast. Meanwhile I had authorized a soup, a sour-spicy soup of Chinese Art This one took from the buffet directly to the place. My husband has dealt first with the exotic fruit and there to try some taken during his Mongolian food was prepared. This whole thing was a great idea that was really new and innovative. We had too much fun at the second visit to this restaurant and the culinary delights were torn. Unfortunately for us, Dortmund is too far away, so that we could have probably got just this one time in the enjoyment. The Chinese dishes were all excellent. I had a very good duck and the fried noodles were excellent, I had chosen to do so. I had chosen me as sauces sweet and sour sauce and garlic. Simply divine. The dessert was a slight Obssteller full of exotic fruits, which was just easy and delicious. Even my husband has been tested many dishes. He said the fish too much and especially the things that belonged to Mongolian cuisine. So we've taken a few courses to a buffet. As it should be, our used plates were always cleared up quickly and almost imperceptibly. A very good service, I can only stress again.

Of course there was some point to end at the time of the evening. We were tired and had a long trip to Schleswig-Holstein, before us. So we asked for the bill, which has also come promptly. With the bill we got two hot moist towels to clean our hands. That was a nice service. The fun has cost us € 15.50 per person when it comes to the buffet with drinks and then we got rid of about 36 € for two. A price I was happy to pay. For I have eaten by far have never been so good with the Chinese and Mongolian, it was for me anyway, the first experience. I also find that the price is excessive under any circumstances.
