I guess the highlight of my stay in South Africa was going on the safaris, cause I love animals. I stayed at a place called Leadwood Lodge, a private lodge owned by the company, "Drifters". We slept in open air, where we could feel the cold, but also hear the animals, and see the most beautiful star lit sky in the world. Waking up really early in the morning to go see the animals was a cold experience but it was deifnitely worth it. Quick Tips: I've only been there once so I can't really give you any tips. In June, when I went, the temperature was really high in the afternoon (I was wearing short sleeved shirts and was fine) and really really low at night. So carry the right kind of clo...Read More

There is a very scenic view of Pilgrim''s Rest and Blyde River Canyon. The lodge overlooks Sabie River and is literally in the forest canopy. I went tubing down the river, which was cold but fun! They have a swimming pool, bar and lounge - and it''s a good place to relax!

Situated in a prime position overlooking the Sand River in the Sabi Sand Reserve, this thatched self-catering game lodge is a really nice place to stay. Five double bungalows are all decorated and equipped with air-conditioning and overhead fans. Each contains twin bathrooms with a private suite semi-outdoor shower for bushing bathing. Each suite has large sliding doors leading out onto a veranda, with a fireplace and barbecue facility, overlooking the river. The suites contain a fully equipped, modern kitchen, complete with a three-man staff to assist, a cook on request and venison in season to order. A highlight on the safaris is a bush trail on foot along the river in search of hippo and croc. The...Read More

Pretoriuskop is situated in the south-western part of the Kruger National Park only 9 km from Numbi Gate. The camp lies in a hilly region with many interesting, picturesque rocky outcrops. Rare species like sable and rhino can be sighted in this area (I saw them!) as well as the more common species like impala, zebra and wildebeest. The first tourist hut in the park, the Wolhuter is found in this camp. Accommodation includes the six-bed cottages, four-bed cottages, six-bed huts and two/three/four/five-bed huts. My bath was really nice.

At the foot of Mpumalanga's Hlumuhlumu mountains, 382 km east of Johannesburg. It has hot mineral springs surrounded by the Embuleni Nature Reserve. They have activities such as horse-riding (in the wild, where you can pretty much ride alongside zebras etc), paint balling (fun but can be quite painful!), go-carting (a must) and they also have swimming pools and spas. A very fun place to stay at the end of your trip.
