Jackson Zoological Park

Attraction | "Bring Your Bathing Suit!"

This is a nice little AZA-accredited zoo. It is not in what seems to be a great neighborhood, but during its operating hours, it seemed perfectly safe. It has a good-sized train which goes around an adjacent park. Riding the train does not require zoo admission. There is also an old swimming lake in the center of it, but this does not appear to be used any longer. What does get used, however, is the 'Splash Pad', which was quite well-attended the day we visited the zoo. On the weekend, it is a little busier, and I imagine it is quite populated with toddlers on rainy days.We also had lunch our first day at their food outlet. My pizza on naan bread was freshly prepared and quite tasty!I did not feel worried about safety, but there...Read More

Hyatt Place Jackson/Ridgeland

The room - while not technically a suite - has a sitting area that is separate from the bedroom area, and the TV can be rotated slightly to face either one. We also had a refrigerator in the room, which was nice, as we stayed for several days. The rooms have a modern, Japanese feel. The staff followed our Gold Passport room preferences to the letter (high floor, away from the elevator, King bed), and even though our stay was paid for by the company, we got hotel points for all the money spent. At my previous Hyatt Place stays, there were a lot of nickel and dime expenses - a la carte food, Starbucks coffee beverages, etc....Read More
