After spending all night at the hospital with our friends, we slept in all day. Then we checked in again with our friends and decided to stop in at the House of the Blues to pick up tickets for the upcoming Jackyl show. Since it was 2 pm and we were starving, we decided to just eat while we were here since they would be filming a Jackyl video later.

You can start off our meal with appetizers such as street tacos, pulled pork sliders, or the fun sounding voodoo shrimp. American classics offer up meals such as Aaron’s Citrus Chicken, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, or a rib eye. There is fish of the day. There is a several salads for those watching their calories including Seared Ahi Tuna Chopped Salad. There are 10 burgers and sandwiches to choose from including Classic Club or Juicy Lucy. Sides include drunken beans, Aaron Corn Succotash, or the Red rose garlic mashed potatoes topped with cotija cheese and apple wood bacon (try saying that 3 times).

Nick gets the Shrimp Po Boy and I get the Classic Club. Nick’s sandwich comes on a huge hoagie roll with about 6 spicy shrimp, a spicy dressing, lettuce and tomato. My club comes on whole wheat bread and I have them replace the dill infused mayo with plain old yellow mustard, turkey, ham, and apple wood bacon with lettuce and tomato (which I give to Nick). Nick gets his bucket of fries while I substitute mine for a side salad with vinaigrette dressing. The sandwiches are amazing and since I can’t eat shellfish, I take Nick’s word for it that it is great. The sandwiches are huge and we end up taking part of them back to the hotel for later. We share a piece a Key Lime Pie. It is soooo sinfully divine. It has a graham cracker crust with tarty and refreshing key lime with whipped topping and red raspberries. But the consistency is more of a cheesecake and I love it.

The House of the Blues is connected to the HOB music venue. While we were here Full Throttle Fest was going on and the guys from Jackyl were all over the place. While we were browsing the menu, we were surprised to look up and Jackyl lead singer and TRU TV reality star, Jesse James Dupree was pretending to be our server. Nick and I giggled as we were having fun with Jesse. Then later Darrel of the band Run DMC came over and sat at our table with us and brought us a round of drinks!

They have a kids menu. They have a full service bar. On Sunday, try their renowned Gospel Bruch. Advanced tickets are suggested. You can make dining reservations on line. Or since it is made through open table, you can also make them through the open table app. House of the Blues is located in the Barefoot Landing entertainment complex giving you plenty of entertaining options before or after dinner. The have a gift shop and you can pick up a HOB pin just like the Hard Rock pin. Go out on the front door and you will find the squished penny machine (my favorite souvenir). They have plenty of free parking. Just keep in mind during bike week, some of the lot may be taken over my vendors.

Recommendation: Very highly recommend

Cuisine: Southern Fare.

They are also known for their BBQ including ribs, chicken, pork, or shrimp.

I go for their chicken enchiladas while Nick chooses Invierno Steak. We both start out with margaritas with Nick getting a regular margarita while I went with the virgin raspberry margarita. While waiting warm salsa and chips are served and they are great. After a bit our food comes out. Nick has tenderloin that comes over an order of refried beans with green tomatoes salsa on top as well as a generous portion of Gouda cheese. He gets a side of tortillas. My fajitas come out a plate of chicken, peppers, and onions. And I can smell them coming! I get a side of ranchero beans and salsa. It normal comes with sour cream and guacamole, but I have them leave that in the kitchen and I get extra salsa. I also get tortillas. We were to full to even think about dessert. But the portions are huge and the food is yummyalish.

The do have a kids menu. The do have a full service bar. Now when I went to the one in Cozumel, it was loud with dance music is blaring, dancing, and those willing to try a shot got extra attention from the servers. They may have had that later in the evening, but at 2 in the afternoon it was just music playing. They do have room for groups. There are vegan/vegetarian options. There is plenty of free parking.

Recommendation: Very highly recommended.

Nick and I wanted to grab a bite to eat before heading out to do the helicopter tour. Since this was bike week the major restaurants were full. So we headed for the small airport and noticed King’s Pizza and it wasn’t crowed so we pulled the Durango in the parking lot and went on in.

Choose from several appetizers including wings, garlic bread. Or mozzarella sticks. There are several salads on the menu including Greek, chef, and Italian. There are more than a dozen baked and pasta dishes including Spaghetti, chicken parmesan, or try a bit of Greece with Mousaka. There are 17 subs to choose from as well as Greek and Chicken gyros. Or try their famous pizza by making your own from more than a dozen toppings. Or pick one of their 7 specialties including Hawaiian, Greek, or the extra special pizza.

Since Nick and I have a microwave and fridge at the hotel we get a Large 16" pizza with half pepperoni for me and hamburger for Nick. I also get the small side salad with the house dressing. Nick and I take a window seat and enjoy watching the bikes that are going up and down the strip. In just a short bit, our pizza comes out. The pie is amazing. It is a thin buttery crust and divine. As we arrive, one can’t help but notice the dessert case conveniently located right at the door and loaded full of cakes, pies, and canolies. I order one and out come 2 chocolate covered canolies. OMG..these are soooooo good. Needless to say Nick and I about needed to be wheeled out after all that food.

They do have a beer and wine menu. There isn’t a kids menu, but again its pizza…mecca for kids dining. They are located right along the main strip in North Myrtle Beach (Highway 17 S). They have a huge parking lot. There are plenty of vegetarian options but not allot for vegans.

Recommendation: Very highly recommendation.

Cuisine: Pizza/Italian/Greek

Price range: $10-$15 pp.
